but i am sure somebody on here would know.

i cannot see a birth of a robert teasdale in kirkby stephen between 1780-1790
of course that does not mean there was not one maybe it has not been transcribed yet on IGI
-
this could be a better fit maybe seeing as the robert married to elizabeth in kirkby st. stephen
had a child called margaret.
christening of robert teasdale
date. 25th jan 1789
place. bampton,westmorland

Hi
Bampton is west of Shap - in Cumberland now. There is a Brampton (there are several) just outside Appleby, to the north, and Dufton is near there too. They are a good walk from KS - at least 20 minutes in a car nowadays.
There are various Teasdale entries in the book of local directories that I have.
Appleby
James Bootmaker no date
Richard publican 1824
Robert publican 1825 Wine Merchant 1835
Thomas farmer Colby 1822
William farmer Colby 1835
Kirkby Stephen
Isabella coffee house 1849 1851
Thomas farmer Intack Bottom 1858
In 1841 there is a Robert Teasdale in Dufton age 60 who is a Mason - so possibly that rules out the Dufton baptism??
How do you know your Robert is a woolcarder? Can you quote a census?

I see that in 1851 Robert is living with his son Joseph bap 1809, (son of Robert Teasdale and Elizabeth Jackson) and his family. He is described as "formerly wool carder". I have not yet managed to find him in 1841. There are five children on that particular batch number on the IGI. The ones listed by Wozzle plus Joseph.
