Please help me find information re my Great Grandmother "Margaret Gracey Brown Hill. The information I have is as follows:
Birth: 20 Nov. 1865 Belfast Ireland; Parents - John Gracey, Mary Murray

Children: Stephen Brown (my Grandfather), Eliza Brown (both born in Belfast)

Witness to Stephen Brown's marriage to Jessie May Ellacott, 1910 Quebec City

Any help with the Toronto connection or with a death record would be greatly appreciated.

You may already have this, but I thought I would put it here to see if it could help.

Here are some links to the Toronto Directories. The pdf version would be the best, but they are large files.

I will check to see if they announced their marriage in the paper.

Thanks Janice;
I already have copies of Stephen's Millitary records. Thank you.
The family information has been scarce as Jessie (his first wife, my grand mother) died when Dad was 4, and he was raised by his maternal family.
It was a surprize to find Margaret had come to Canada.
I will start checking the Toronto Directory. I didn realize it was on line.

Janice:
Thank you for your help. I was able to download the Toronto directories for 1912 and 1913. But I was unable to locate them at the address shown on the 1911 census ( 85 Denison Ave, Toronto). With all the John Hill listings, I was unable to discover if they were still in Toronto. Also I has no luck with searching Ancestry for a Death record for either Margaret or John.
Well I will keep plugging away at it.
Again, thanks for your suggestions.

Barbara,
Do you have any idea at all when she may have died? If so, I can check the Toronto Star to see if they put a notice in.

Hi Janice:
Again thanks for your help.
I have no idea at all when Margaret died. I still have an Aunt living in the Vancouver area( Dad's half-sister). I will try to contact her. I know that she said when she was young, they had no contact with her Father's family at all. So I am thinking Margaret may have passed away before they were born or shortly after. It is also possible that Margaret could have moved to BC. So I will start some researching there.
I do appreciate all that you've done so far.

Hi Barb, have you found their date of arrival in Canada, I have tried matching combinations of the brown's on www.findmypast.com/passengerList and find difficulty with all! perhaps they travelled in groups, do you know their first inclusion in Canadian Census after say 1881?
yes me again, Jim

Hi Jim:
Good to here from you again.
From the 1911 Canadian census, I learned that she arrived in 1907.
John Hill is shown to have arrived that year also. But I don't know if they came over together.
I have Stephen Brown arriving in 1908 according to his Army record. But I have't found anything for his sister Eliza( Elizabeth).
If you find anything, it would be greatly appreciated.
