Hi Eilleen
do's it say who the vicar was, that might help track down the church

Since it says 'the Parish Church' my guess would be that it means St Botolph's (ie The Stump). http://www.genuki.org.uk:8080/big/eng/LIN/Boston/#ChurchHist

George Woreth Lacturre ???
That's a name to conjure with - I hope you're right ;D

Hi Eilleen
I think you will find that a George B Blenkin or Bleukin was Vicar of Boston on the 1881 census, and he was there in 1861

Hi Eilleen
He was also there in 1871 Vicar of Boston

The Stump is the parish church for Boston

Hi Beady
I aint disputing that the Stump is the parish church for Boston, but it could have been any of the other church's in the town.

Hi Elaine (& Ricky :) )
Definitely the Stump.
If it had been St Aidan's or St James it would have said the name and then 'in the parish of Boston'.
St Nicholas will be written as 'the parish church in the parish of Skirbeck' and Holy Trinity will be like St Aidan and St James, and give the name of the church followed by 'in the parish of Skirbeck'.
St Thomas in Skirbeck Quarter you don't have to worry about because it wasn't around in 1875. :)
If I remember correctly George B Blenkin signed G B Blenkin, and you could read his signature, so it sounds as if the officiating minister at Tom and Annie's wedding was one of his underlings.

I'd still love to see a scan of the signature on the certificate, if only to try and work out what the name actually was!
It does now seem most likely the marriage took place at 'The Stump'.

Jennifer.
A bit late coming , but here goes. :)

George W Lowe, followed by what I think is a very badly written 'M.A.' then Lecturer. (Might be B.A. Hard to say exactly, as it's not a photocopy of the PR entry.)
1881 census has George living in South Street, Boston, occupation 'Clergyman and Lecturer at the Parish Church'.

well pamthomas ,
that solved that , thankyou. :)
just wish Great grandma Annie was as easy to find , before she married.

The Stump aka St Botolph, is the only parish church in Boston.
