Title: Durham record office Completed
Post by: alawton on Tuesday 18 November 08 11:08 GMT (UK)
Haven't used rootschat since last year so not really sure how to go about it.Would someone who is going to Durham record ofice be able to look up the death of Elizabeth Hogg nee Cook? The info. I have so far:married to Joseph Hogg 25/12/1786 Brignall, Yorkshire born either 27/3/1765 to Richard Cook, Gt. Ayton or 24/11/1767 to John Cook Gt. Ayton. They had eleven children born between 1789 & 1811,most of them baptised in the Kelloe parish & her husband buried April 1833 at Kelloe Durham. It would seem likely that she was buried in Kelloe Parish too. Hoping someone can help & that it might give info. to confirm who her parents were. alawton

You might find your Kelloe family here:

http://www.rootschat.com/links/04ke/

Great Ayton is in the NRY according to this:

Durhamrecordsonline is a useful site too.  have a look at the Durham boards and there are various helpful links.

I have a transcript--and is easier to find them--then look at the BT's once you have the dates.  Although this may be a moot point as I look the curate did not write or ask about the wife's father's name--some parishes have that information.

Have already looked at Bishops transcripts with no luck. Have the following names for her children:Charles bap. 3/5/1789, Mary bap. 7/4/1791, Elizabeth 11/8/1793, Ann 15/6/1795,Margaret 13/4/1798, Joseph born 7/4/1800, bap.4/5/1800(my forebear), Isabella born 24 /9/1802,maybe a John born 1806, Stephen born 12/1/1808, Dorothy 24/11/1811. This latter in reply to Janis. Thanks alawton

Thankyou lynneJ! This is definitely my family. Don't know who the Henry Hogg is aged 25yrs in the 1851 census, but possibly the son of one of Elizabeth's other boys. I assume the death of Elizabeth Hogg 1856 was in the civil records? Did it give any other info.? e.g. spouse, father or?  I was hoping to get more info. on her parentage.alawton ;D :-*
