Hi
Looking for William and Mary James (nee Price) and family.
William and Mary married 1821 in Rockfield so should be about 40 in 1841.
May have daughter Elizabeth born 1822 with them (she married in 1845).
EddieW :)

Have you the names of any other children as there are quite a few William and Mary James on the 1841 in Monmouthshire?
-
Hi, thanks for the reply
James 1824 and John 1828.
The daughter, Elizabeth was the name she used at her marriage but was baptised Eliza in 1822.

That does look promising
John could be old enough to be away working
The three children i have were baptized at Monmouth-Rc according to the IGI (not sure what the Rc stands for) so that i think would fit
The rounding down of ages and no birthplace doesn't help.
Are they still there in 1851
-
cannot seem to find them in 1851
the only one i can find at this moment is the youngest child burton in the 1901 census

That is definitely Joseph and Eliza so the two families probably moved across together
Eliza was from Rockfield Monmouthshire and baptized in 1822, Monmouth-Rc
I only posted for 41/51 but now wondering if William and Mary are still alive in 1861 at age 60.
Eddie :)
ps have some info to post for you mariac.

Would love the entry for Fanny, would like to find out how many of the family were born at Rockfield and if any were born at St Pancras
Don't these transcriptions rock you sometimes, most of the time the transcribers do a great job but it is hard when there is that big a difference.

-
Thanks for that, i love how these second names keep popping up.
That certainly looks like George.
At first glance i thought that was his brother William but born Cheltenham is wrong, the age is right and being a joiner would follow from his father being a carpenter.
William is not with his parents in 1851 and by the age of the first child he could have been with Elizabeth then, would be interesting to see what he put down for his birthplace then.

1851
HO107/1488/486/47.
william james age 24. b. gloucestershire. occ. carpenter. head.
elizabeth age 25. b. st.marylebone. wife.
frank age 7mnths. b. ditto. son.

-
in the 1871 william still puts place of birth as cheltenham, gloucs
he is back in kensington area then
RG10/42/21/36.
-
Going off that they are not brothers, must have been just one of the six William employed.
Must have been a lot more work in London for Tradesmen and Tailors etc at that time.
Thanks
Eddie
