As suggested in my earlier topic "help needed reading death cert" I have tried to scan just the cause of death which I am having trouble reading.
I did try to post this on the original topic but it won't have it so here's hoping:

Suicide - throwing herself out of window ?
At least that's what it looks like to me :o

:) :) :)
I would say "Suicide by throwing herself out a window", but I can't can't get the rest - perhaps it's Latin - something Morte ?
:) :) :)

Pretty sure it says 'suicide by throwing herself out of a window'
The last bit I think it might be Latin
'internal' something 'formidable'
or it might read 'witnessed by her family'
Have you tried to get a copy of the coroners report?

Glad you managed to rescan it

Think that middle word might be 'morte'
death from formidable internal injuries it would translate as

I go with Legs 11
Last word is 'mind'
Possibly (something) state of mind?

Hello,
suicide by throwing herself out of a window
unsound
state of mind
That's my guess and sorry to hear of it :(

Thank you all for taking the time to look at this. Now you come to mention it, it does look like throwing herself out of a window. And could well be disturbed state of mind. Don't know why I couldn't see it myself :-[
This death certificate only arrived this morning and gave me quite a start - I wasn't expecting to see a suicide, especially as she was buried in St Margarets Westminster - I thought the church had "issues" with suicides.
My next course of action is to try and find out if its possible to get a copy of the coroners report.
I'm off to the London board to see if anyone can tell me where I can get an 1850 Saint Pancras Coroners Report from....
Thanks once again for all your help

I dont know, but my guess would be to try the London Metropolitan Archives.
They have a website which lists on it somewhere all that they hold, very clearly.
But i cant remember address!

I didn't notice the year she died Sylvia but it used to be that suicides were buried on one part of the churchyard
I think it might have been the east side of the church which was reserved for this purpose as it was listed as unconsecrated ground but no doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong
This is quite a good link which tells you all about burial laws

good luck with your search and sorry to hear about that death.

Try to look for a newspaper report too ! I have found that to be easier than locating coroner's reports.

The last couple of lines aren't cause of death at all - it is "informant Martha(?) J...." - can't quite read the name without a few more clues. It is quite usual on a death certificate to have the informants name in this column. The cause of death is as others have stated: "Suicide by throwing herself out a window".

I think it says -
unsound
state of mind
