Title: Abergorchy Colliery - Ystradyfodwg - complete
Post by: eac61 on Sunday 08 February 09 12:32 GMT (UK)
My Great Great Grandfather Daniel Powell died in Abergorchy Colliery, Ystradyfodwg on 25th April, 1903 he was just 52 years old.  Without getting his death certificate would there be anyway of finding out if it was an accident in the colliery or if it was natural causes ??? I wondered if anyone knew where I could find records of accidents at that colliery or maybe access to local papers that may have reported it ????

Thanks

http://www.welshcoalmines.co.uk/fatalities/dates/1903.html

This website records Mining deaths in south wales

The date they have used 2nd May 1903 is wrong (as his probate says 25 April 1903).
Cause of death : fall of roof
