Title: William Osborne 1863
Post by: polstead lady on Thursday 12 February 09 12:56 GMT (UK)
Can any one tell me why my g grandfather William Osborne was living with wife Annie (Nee Torr) in 1891 at " Nix's Row Lincoln and described as Soldier private ? He was born in Southwark and his daughter remained there in Sandlands St with Grandparents while their elder son went with them to Lincoln. It does seem to be a private St not barracks. How would I find out about his soldiering?

hope someone can give me a clue

I can't explain why they were there.   Next door neighbour was also a soldier.  No soldiers there in 1901 - see Mary JELLY 70

They were only a couple of hundred yards from a barracks http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/304640
