Hi David
I can't find a marriage for them. I've found a sister, b. 1923 (I'm not mentioning names because there might be living persons). I can't find any births before the 1921 one which makes me think that they married around then.
I've checked the full GRO marriage index for Common(s) , 1919-1921 but there's no sign. I have found possible births for a Harold Common, St Germans 1896 (Harold Richard Commons) and St Columb 1898 (Stephen Harold Commons)
Can't see a Doris Doidge at the moment. The birth cert will confirm the mother's name.
Do you have any more information on the family at all?

I have also located a Florence Ethel Doris Doidge, born circa 1904, possibly Redruth.

Nothing showing on the 1901 at the moment. It could be a transcription error and they take ages to locate :-\

Just before I go there's an interesting family on the 1901, given that the most likely Doris is a Florence Ethel Doris Doidge:
Barncoose, Terrace, Illogan, Redruth
RG13/2241 f 113 p 18
Doidge
Grace, head, married, 50, b. Stoke Climsland
John,22, blacksmith, b. Stoke Climsland
Florrie, 19
Edna, 17, draper's shop assistant
Lorna M, 8
Ethel, 15, draper's shop assistant
All b. Illogan except where stated
Strange order on the sheet!
There are other Doidge in Redruth RD but this looked interesting.

We shouldn't ignore:
Births Dec 1896
Doidge Dora Launceston 5c 26
This Dora is in Stokeclimsland in 190

No but still can't find a marriage though. I think it might be that you'll have to get that birth cert to find out mother's first name.

??? ??? ???
Dorothy M Doidge m a George P Cummings

Just adding it to the pot!

'Doris' died shortly after Myrtle was born, I don't know whether that means as a result or a few years after and Harold remarried a Maud.

If you are interested in the Doidges they appear in the 1911 census in the Redruth district.

There is a Florence Ethel Doris Doidge in the Redruth district born 1904 age 7 in the 1911 census.

Hi Maryanne
That was the one that I mentioned in one of my early messages and have followed up to her death -see page 1.

Hi Maryanne :)
We're trying to find a suitable Doris Doidge - the Florence Ethel Doris was my first choice but she died before Lilian died.
There was also a possibility of a Dorothy M but I found that she married someone else after 1921.
What we're tring to find is a Harold Commons with all the variations of his surmane marrying a (Doris) Doidge before or during 1921. So far nothing found :-\
I think Lilians's birth cert which we have the ref for is probably the best course.
Regards

Just looking around at Doidge and Commons all spellings there is a marriage between Harold R Commons to Edith J Doidge at Liskeard Dec 1917.
-
That looks pretty good :D
So how did the Doris come in. Think we'd best wait for William's explanation :)
do you have the reference?
Also - any sign of an Edith J on the 1901?
-
RG13/2191 F 31 P 8
An Edith S (?)* aged 4, b. St Mellion
Callington - parents are William and Alice.
Looks promising
* I think it's Edith Jane :)

Marriage Registration:
William Doidge and Alice Edmunds on same page

On the home page of BMD there is view images which I did to check which Doidge Harold Commons was married to.
-
Yes - Edith Jane Doidge - but your Edith J Commons doesn't fit and would be too young in 1917.
The marriage ref that I put up were the parents of Edith Doidge b. c. 1897.

As you say the birth certificate would be the best course.
-
Edith Jane Doidge Liskeard in 1911 age 14 there is also an Alice age 44 living at Liskeard and a William.
-
In case that the Edith Jane Doidge turns out to be the Doris Doidge.
Here is her birth registration
Dec q, 1896, St Germans, v 5c page 37
This would fit with the one that I found, aged 4, on the 1901 in Callington with parents William Doidge and Alice (Edmunds). St Gemans covers St Mellion which was her birth place on the 1901.
It might well be that her 'pet' name was Doris but William needs to get that birth cert to make sure.

I agree

Thank you both for being so determined, I will get my friend to see if there is anything else she can get from her mother; if no joy, I will suggest they order a birth certificate.
Thank you for everything

My father in law is a Doidge descendant, from a nearby parish.
