Hi

You haven't given any details of her approx birthyear or her birthplace from later censuses

You will need to buy a copy of the 1866 marriage cert to establish her fathers name if there are several entries

I also suspect you may have the wrong 1871 entry - if that George was only 21 in 1871 - that would make him around 16 when he married Hannah.  Again - the marriage cert will show his fathers name and occupation

What year did he die?  If he was only 16 when he married and died at 25 (9yrs later) he must have died in or around 1875/6

in 1881 Hannah had Maried Again showning as Hannah Rose not Faithan.
her age is 31 in 1881 so that make her date of birth 1850. so she would have been really young  16 as well when she married George Faithen

Something not quite right here

Hannah Jameson marries George Faithen in 1866

George dies approx 1875/76 and Hannah remarries by 1881

But she doesn't re-marry as either Hannah Faithen or Hannah Jameson - she re-marries under the name Hannah Rose.  So where does the surname Rose come from?

Who did she re-marry? - will you please post the FULL 1881 census so we can have a look

You have posted on the Durham board but say that Hannah was b Newcastle which is Northumberland

It seems that she married Mr William Rose around that time 1881,
Shows on census]

William Rose 34
Hannah Rose 31
Sarah Elizabeth. Rose 9
Agnes Rose 6
William Rose 2

Sarah Elizabeth Was never Rose Nor Agnes ????
Mother must have been tring to appear as Normal Family with one Family name??

Hello Faithen

You can search the 1911 census free here:  http://www.1911census.co.uk/

then if you find the person, you can buy credits as shown on the website

For 10 credits (which cost between 83p and £1.16, depending on the package you buy) you can view a full transcript of everyone in the household, or a whole page of an institution.

Viewing the images of the household pages uses 30 credits, which costs from £2.50 to £3.48, depending on the package of credits that you buy.

Kind regards
Barbara

Yes, sorry both, I was just answering with general information about searching the 1911 census and costs for transcripts, and omitted to mention that unfortunately it's not available for the Northumberland, Durham and North Yorkshire (and some other) areas yet, but should be by the summer, if you can wait a couple of months!

Kind regards

Hannah's birthyear is 100% consistent between 1881-1901 - 1850 - but there is no birth reg in either Durham or Northumberland on freebmd.  I have also tried under Jamieson

Although Civil Reg was introduced in 1837 - it only became compulsory to register a birth from 1875.  Many births went unregistered.

There is no 1851 entry with a birthplace of Blaydon but birthplaces could change from census to census.  Hannah was a baby in 1851 so her parents may have shown a different area of Durham as her birthplace to the one she herself shows in later censuses

Gateshead was the registration district which included Blaydon

I had this wonderful theory - unfortunately, as I researched it the flaws became obvious!!

What I really do think is that Hannah was illegitimate and her mother married after her birth.  The only Hannah with the right birthyear and birthplace on the 1851 is Hannah Robson - mother Jane father Thomas

I thought perhaps Thomas was previously married (2 older children in h/h) but there is no Robson/Jameson marriage between 1849-1851

Can only find records for one of her Children David Newell Faithen b 1903, but there were more.

And still looking for Agneses to, Agnes Thompson nee Faithan. B 1874
Thanks to you all for all your help and bring on the summer!!!!
