"The City of Sydney has now obtained a complete digital edition of the directory from WF Pascoe Ltd, scanned from the microfiche, and is making it available for public access." (SAG e newsletter 30/3/2014)

http://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/learn/history/search-our-collections/sands-directory
and a great search facility and pdf downloads too.... ;D

I think that this link can be added to the NSW Resources board after it has come to the notice of the regulars here at RChat  ;D

It's brilliant JM, Thanks for the heads up on it.

Once you have opened the right PDF by using the keyword search ( I just put in an unusual sort of surname for practice purposes  ;D) you can  use ctrl F to locate the occurrences of that keyword. Perfect ;D

Mary this is not the correct link to search - it has expired!!
National Archives of Australia - Record Search
http://naa12.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/SearchScreens/BasicSearch.aspx

This one to the search page- the link posted on the resources is to the home page for NAA which quite OK to use.

Kris, our former moderator did a fantastic job assembling the free links but this was done a number of years ago ;D :)

Instead of posting the errors here I suggest you pm Sarah with the information.

Hi jkgla,

I have only just spotted your reply, I have just updated the first section of links :) If you spot anymore if you click on the report to moderator button or a pm I can fix them for you.

New great link from Cando :)

I am wanting to known where to go and if there is such a department, to find out if there is a deed poll list as I have a connection she was born Maria Olive Burke when she got married in 1910 to John Woodward she was still that but when she died in 1922 she was Myra Blanche Woodward or did they just do that those days, Can someone be able to answer my question please.?

Maria when her father died in 1922.

Myra when she died in 1923

Maybe she just preferred to call herself a different name.
