Hi nan and Isobel,
I wonder if this might help decide, I've been searching the 1881 to see which one of the two names fit .. I couldn't find either, this may be why?
Death, Sept qtr 1877
Harriet Joplin, age 33
Driffield, Vol 9d, page 192
Kind regards,
Pels.

According to the 1881 census, John Joplin, born in King Lynn was a widower, so it looks like he was the one .. and the Driffield marriage was correct.

hi isobel and pels thanks for your help to find marriage sad to see did not last to long now to find if they had any children all the best sooper nan

Hello again nan,
One thing which I thought worth a mention, when I found Harriet's death there was also one other Harriet Joplin :
Death, Sep qtr. 1887
Harriett Joplin, age 0
Beverley, Vol 9d, page 79
I see it appears John remarried in 1882.
Marriage, Mar. qtr 1882
Louisa Holderness
John Joplin
Driffield 9d 425
In 1891 and 1901 John and Louisa are living in Beverley, I do know it was quite often the practise after a second marriage, to name an infant after the husband's widow, if that makes sense ?
Added .. It was only in 1891 they were both living together .. in 1901 John has been widowed again.
Kind regards,
Pels.
