Title: Marriage Index, York, 1751 - 1837 - SLEIGHTHOLM

Sarah SLEIGHTHOLM (born April 6, 1777) married Jonathon NATTRESS (birthdate unknown), probably before 1797 (birth of their first son).  They were married (probably) in Goathland or (possibly) in Whitby.

After the death of Jonathon NATTRESS, Sarah SLEIGHTHOLM NATTRESS married Joseph READMAN (1781-1843)

Confirmation of these marriages would be greatly appreciated (dates, church, etc.) 

Any further information about Sarah SLEIGHTHOLM, Jonathon NATTRESS and/or Joseph READMAN would be greatly appreciated.

Sarah and Joseph READMAN emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1828.

Sarah and Jonathon NATTRESS were my ggggrandparents.

This may not be the right one but can't find another.

Did Sarah and Jonathan have any children?  I have Nattress in my family tree from N0rth Yorks

Thanks to "Catswhiskers" for this information.  Really appreciated.   Sarah and Jonathon had two sons, Isaac and Thomas.   Later today I'll check my records and respond more fully.

Hi,

Sarah SLEIGHTHOLM and Jonathon NATTRESS had two sons(Isaac and Thomas), and a daughter, Elizabeth, who died young.  Sarah SLEIGHTHOLM's parents were Leonard SLEIGHTHOLM (1722 - 1814) and Elizabeth SMALLWOOD (married in 1767).  Have you any more information about Jonathon Nattress? 


Isaac NATTRESS married Ann (Redman?), date unknown.  Their first three children were born in Yorkshire, as follows:
Thomas NATTRESS, b. 1822; Jonathon NATTRESS, b. 1824; John NATTRESS, b. 1826.  Isaac and Ann had 10 children; seven were born in Ontario, Canada.

Thomas NATTRESS (b. 1805) married in Canada, to Ann WATSON.  They had 12 children, all born in Ontario, Canada.

Sarah NATTRESS remarried Joseph READMAN - no children from this marriage.

re Sleightholm/ Nattress family -

Leonard Sleightholm (1722-1814) married Elizabeth Smallwood (1767-1817).  They had 5 children - youngest was Sarah (1777-1851) who married Jonathan Nattress.

They had 2 sons - Isaac & Thomas* who left Yorkshire in 1828.  Isaac was married in Yorkshire to Ann Redman (Thomas, Jonathan, John, Elizabeth, Mary(died), Mary, Isaac, Sarah, Joseph (died), Joseph). 

   Mary married Pierce Fletcher (my great-grandparents).  Their daugher,  Sarah Jane married Thomas Cole.

   Jonathan (1824-1859) married Rachel Sleightholm.  No children

*Thomas was married in Canada to Ann Watson (Jonathan, John, Elizabeth,Sarah Jane, Ann, Isaac, Thomas, William, Joseph, George, Leonard).

On arriving in Canada the family lived around Woodbridge, north of Toronto.  After Thomas married he lived on a farm near Weston.
