I know my great grandmother was born in 1910, my grandfather thought she was born in the Turriff area but on Scotlands People there are 2 Jessie Wilson Stronachs listed - one at Cabrach and one at Mortlach could they be same person ? My great grandmother died in 1995.
I believe her parents to be James Wilson Stronach b 1890 Westerton Huntly d 1978 Bucksburn and married to Agnes Jane Geddes b 1885 Marnoch d 1973 Bucksburn.
I believe Jessie had a sister but this is as yet unconfirmed
I can't find anything on IGI but as I said on a previous post quite I often I don't find anything but other people do! ???
Any help gratefully received
Many thanks

hi jo :)
hard to believe there would be 2 jessie wilson stronach's born in the same
year and the same county - but you never know :-\
don't think you can view the actual certificates on SP due to the hundred year
rules but perhaps the index might reveal a maiden name for mother
i see a marriage on SP that maybe of interest
james stronach & jessie wilson 1889 rothiemay banffshire
hope this helps

Unfortunatley the mother's maiden name doesn't show on the index either for security reasons. I believe the only way to find out the mother's maiden name is to buy the certificate if it's under 100 years ago.

Hi Jo
Regarding your comment about IGI. IGI stops for Scotland around 1874/5. You occasionally find some entries after this date but they will be submitted entries by members.

The wonder of google ;)
I found this http://genbase.co.uk/StronachWeb/scotlandsstronachs/i345.htm
Jessie Wilson Stronach Birth: 15 Aug 1910
Death: 8 Jan 1995
Burial: Marnoch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Parents: Father: James Wilson Stronach (1890-1978) and Agnes Jane Geddes (1885-1973)
Frustratingly, it still doesn't answer your question about which birth is correct. Could there have been boundary changes going on at that time I wonder. The parishes are next to each other www.scotlandsfamily.com/parish-map-aberdeen.htm

Hi,
I also want to add that if the father worked in a different parish from the child's birth, it may registered there too. However, I'm not sure of the reason. My great-grandfather's sister was registered in both Aberdeen and Lunan in Forfarshire (now Angus). On the Aberdeen entry, it notes father "Domicil Lunan". He was a railway signalsman.
hume :)
Forgot to add - this was in 1896.

THis could be the reason there are two of them in the space of less than 20 miles as one is near Keith the other near Huntly and I think it did mean diff parishes .
