Hi there
Looking for descendants of Arthur Pobar and Josephine Cussen. They married in 1894 in Qld and had several children. They lived in Toowoomba. I have the children's names and some info, but would like to contact a descendant and am really interested in finding a photo of Josephine. If there's anyone out there I would love to hear from you !

this is a very interesting link to a Jack Pobar from the Toowoomba area, I wondered if he was related to you?

Thank you both for your prompt replies. I do know of Jack Pobar but have not seen that actual site, so thanks for that; likewise I know of the Pobars in the cemetery. I am not actually related to the Pobars but am to Josephine, so I am really looking for a living descendant who may have some more info on her and even a photo. (I know her ancestry)
Thanks
Marimac :)

Hi Marimac,
I am really looking for a living descendant who may have some more info on her and even a photo. (I know her ancestry)
It sometimes does happen that a descendant of the line you are searching turns up in response to post like yours.
However, more often such a person is located through researching forward and forward using death notices and electoral rolls and other sources available until someone is located and personal contact can be made. This is a process that takes time, but is frequently successful.
If you are really hoping for a contact, perhaps you will need to take the next steps.
What do you know about the grandchildren of Arthur and Josephine and have you tried to trace them through ww2 records, telephone directories etc.?

Hi Sue
Thanks for that. I have researched forward to a certain extent, but yes could probably do more. Have had contact with some of the family without learning much. Will keep trying and maybe I might have some luck one day!

Hello,
I am also trying to research the Pobar family, although from a different angle.
According to my research, Edward John POBAR married a distant cousin of mine, Eileen Marie LUXON.
Eileen was the daughter of William Francis LUXON (b.1869, Guernsey, Channel Islands - d.1933, Australia) and Maria MOLES.
Any information you might have on Edward and Eileen's descendants would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Thank you for your quick reply; according to William Francis LUXON's attestation record for the Australian Imperial Force, he was living in Brisbane, Queensland.

I see in the 1900 Queensland PO Directory that the Pobar Bros (Arthur, John, Felix F, Thos and Wm F) were butchers in Gowie St Toowoomba.
Nice to see 5 brothers in one business.

Hi Craig
I believe Edward John Pobar (1895-1938) is Josephine's son. Unfortunately I don't know anything more about him. I live in hope that one day someone who knows something about Josephine may pop up !!

Thank you both for your information. It is interesting to see he lived in the area in which some of my other unrelated ancestors lived.
