Can anyone help me decipher the address of the mother on this birth certificate?
The mark of
Ann Wade
mother
xxby Hall near
Hotham[?] bank[?]
I am also posting a link on the Lincolnshire board to see if anyone is local to Boston who recognises this.
many thanks

Could it be Raby Hall? Not sure about the other word though...
justmej

I think it's "Witham bank"
-
And could it be "Irby Hall"?

And could it be "Irby Hall"?
Well there is an Irby Hall, in Lincolnshire, so could be it...

Thank you for all the suggestions.
I think the Irby Hall reference is a little too far away? The birth certificate is certainly for Boston, rather thank Spalding.
I wonder if Raby Hall could be it, but Hotham Bank, Witham Bank?
Someone on the Lincolnshire board seems to recognise Witham Bank, so I'll see if Raby Hall works with that!
your interest much appreciated :)

Hi,
Just looked at a map . . . there is an Irby Street and a Witham Bank on the north side of Boston, so I would think Irby Hall is the most likely.

Excellent, Mike - I had a look at Witham Bank last night, but didn't spot that.
Thank you very much. That pins my great great aunt's birthplace down, then, in 1840!
:D
