Hi Isobel,
What sort of information are you hoping to find? I see the 5 births in SA. Do you have the details? 4 list mother as Gracie RENTON one lists her as Gracie Dickson Renton
The family arrived in Adelaide aboard the IRISHMAN which departed from Liverpool 13 Sep 1912 arriving in Adelaide 2 Nov. The only adult is listed as Gertrude
http://hansard.millbanksystems.com/written_answers/1912/dec/11/steamship-irishman
HENDRY Gertrude 32 housewife from Scotland
HENDRY Jessie female 10 Child from Scotland
HENDRY Willie male 8 1/2 Child from Scotland

Thank you Kris for your reply...the truth is that the information I gave is information I was given from a cousin in Caithness, Scotland and I am not sure if it is correct or not and is all I really have.
You mentioned that the five births in SA list Gracie Renton as mother and one Gracie Dickson Renton which is probably correct as I had Gracie Dixoan (which would be Dickson). But is James mentioned as the father?
On the ship I wonder who Gertrude was and where was James?
Thanks again the information is much appreciated and any information will be greatly received.

Hi Isabel,
I can not spot James arrival. I wonder if Gertrude may be Gracie (though it does say Gertrude) no marital status of relationships listed so I really cannot be sure. The children names fitted with what you had said.
The births in SA finish in 1921. Will PM details as some may be living. (Father is listed as James HENDRY for all births.)
Cheers Kris :)

Hi,
I do not see you have
THOMAS JAMES RENTON HENDRY as a son, but perhaps he was known as JAMES whom you have listed.
This man enlisted for ww2 and his record is digitised for reading.
His mother GRACE RENTON HENDRY is his next of kin and he gives his birhdate as 1913.
There is even a photo of him!
You will get the address for GRACE whom he lives with as a single man andother interesting information.

ROBEERT joined up too.
HENDRY, ROBERT MELVILLE RENTON seems to have joined the Royal Australian Air Force and his number wa122566 . His birth date was 22 July 1921 Looks like he enlisted on 12 Mar 1943. At the time of his enlistment he appears to be living ROSE PARK, SA and he enlisted at MALVERN His NOK shows HENDRY, DAPHNE. Seems he ended his service on 18 Apr 1946 and his rank then was Leading Aircraftman.
Sue
I also see a record for
GORDON.

I am assuming you have found your way into his file to read on the website I gave you above
The photo is on page 2
Are you using the little arrows at the top to turn the pages?
It is on a pink backdrop and you need to scroll down a bit.
It is only little but you can probably "work on that" ;D

Hi
I think i'm somehow related to you Isabel. My Grandpa was John Frederick Errey & my Grandma was Jessie Hendry & I think the other people you are talking about are her siblings. I know my Grandma traveled out to Australia from Edinburgh, Scotland. Not sure of the date of migration but I know she traveled with some of her siblings & others were born out here. Think she may have been around 10 when she migrated & then worked as a seam stress later on before she married. She was born in 20/2/1902 & died in 1995. She had 4 daughters, on of which obviously was my Mum, Marilyn & she lived for the most part in the Largs/Peterhead district in Adelaide, South Australia. I remember my mum talking about "Uncle Bob" who is Robert her brother & he lived up until around 1996 I think.
Would love to hear from you & any other information about the Hendry family.

Hello,
I have never posted on here , before so please be patient.
I believe Thomas James Renton Hendry was my grandfather.
Everything I have read seems to be matching with what little I know about our family history.
I was researching and came across this post.
I truly believe we are talking about the same person.
Kind regards
Amy
