Hi Dimply,

I see it as Fuller too but just like you, I can't see a marriage (or even the family in 1861)  :(

Hi Tati - many thanks for your input - I too can't find Sarah until she is with Thomas on the 1871 census.  She is down as being born in Greenwich abt 1832 - it's a puzzle ???  Once again many thanks Dimply

Hi

"Formerly" only means the name she was formerly known as, it doesn't mean she actually married.  On my gran's birth cert, her mother gives her maiden name as "late", her previous married name as "formerly" and then the name she was using, but neither I, nor the ranks of Rootschatters or distant relatives can find a marriage between g.gran and g.grandfather.

Hi All

This looks an interesting entry for 1861 in Greenwich:

Sarah Maloney 25
Joseph Maloney 6
Richard Maloney 4
Jane Fuller 20

Class: RG9; Piece: 401; Folio: 87; Page: 14

Can't as yet see her marriage to Thomas under either name for her, but this may be her first marriage:

Marriages 1st Qrt 1855

Sarah Isabella    Fuller in Greenwich    1d   522   - two names, James Meloney and John Brown

Sarah Isabella Fuller married James MELANEY  at St Paul, Deptford, 21 January 1855
Both otp, full age, previously unmarried. Her father is Richard Fuller, a labourer.  One witness is also named Sarah Fuller.

Possibly Sarah's family in 1851 - all born and living in Greenwich. Sister Jane below would fit with the 1861 entry with Jane Fuller showing as sister to Sarah Maloney, widow:

Richard Fuller 38
Sarah Fuller 37
Sarah Fuller 16
Richard Fuller 11
Jane Fuller 9
George Fuller 6
Mary Fuller 4

Class: HO107; Piece: 1587; Folio: 78; Page: 11

This might be death of husband James Maloney:

Deaths 4th Qrt 1860
James Maloney     - Greenwich    1d   411

Many many thanks to you - this looks like the family!  On the 1871 census there is a Joseph & Richard being born in Greenwich they must have taken the surname of Cartwright when Sarah met with Thomas.
I am very grateful
Kind regards
Dimply
