Title: Druid's Lodge Sheppey
Post by: annieoburns on Friday 09 October 09 17:38 BST (UK)
Does anyone know more about this?   It was apparantly a saving scheme/credit union?? not a strange religious cult!!  A relative was involved insame and also was a Sheerness Dockyard employee.

He was also on committee of Victoria Working Men's Club.

Hi Annie  :),
At a guess I would say it was a scheme probably based and run at "The Druids Arms" Pub, Bluetown.  Bluetown is the part of Sheerness right against the Dockyard Wall amnd was the home of many Dockyard workers.
                                                       Rog.

Thank's for that Rog, sounds right.  I checked with my mother and she said it was common to have saving schemes based in  a pub such as a 'christmas club'.  The Pub is no longer there.
