Geoff & I posted at exactly the same time ;D
I do so wish Trystan would turn the warning message back on to tell us of new posts made while we've been typing - though it may not have saved this instance of duplication...... ;)

No problem.
Looks like birthplace of Charles E is Middle Rasen.

Sorry me too - I stated Charles b Lincoln, Lincolnshire - and it doesn't at all, as Geoff saw.

I agree, it says Middle Rasen, Lincolnshire

I'm afraid your female intuition failed you on this occasion :P
See here http://tinyurl.com/yk4cocr
It was a short street, the last one before the railway, running due north from the riverside. If it had been a through street, it would have gone through to Claremont St ... but it stopped short of Cannon St.
If you go to http://www.old-maps.co.uk/IndexMapPage2.aspx and look for Lincoln, you will see the position (but not the name) of the street. The 1907 map shows it clearly ... it must have got its name from the railway bridge.

Geoff , spot on :)
I had looked at my 1907 map, and not seen it ??? and its marked ::)
I have just been talking to my Great Aunt, and she said" off shoots of this family ran a pub down there for years, " maybe they liked the area so much :)
I should have guess correctly had I know a pub was involved somewhere 8)
