Title: SLATOR/SLATER/SLEATOR
Post by: busbar on Saturday 09 January 10 23:49 GMT (UK)
My ggrandfather was William James Slater who joined the RIC in 1867. He was a servant and came from "Armagh" according to his record, and was recommended by Thos Simpson JP. I understand that whoever recommended the recruit had to know the applicant personally and come from the same parish. I have found a Thos Simpson JP from Ballyards which I think is Lisnadill parish. Is he likely to be the same man?  All suggestions welcome.
