Sarah nee Mottley married John Lightfoot in Coningsby in 1778. She appears to have died prior to 1784 as a John Lightfoot married Ann Moore in this year, also at Coningsby. Can anyone confirm the death please?

John was my 5th great grandfather, I and descended from his son William from his 2nd wife.

There is a burial of a John Lightfoot, b 1790, in Toynton St Peter on 25th September 1847.
He also appears on on index to wills for 1847, but no details, and some electoral registers in Toynton.

So more than one John around ::)

The only John Lightfoot born in the Conningsby area in 1790 was to John and Ann.
John Lightfoot married Elizabeth Dimbleby on 2nd June 1814 in Toynton, 14 miles from Conningsby.
A witness was Samuel Light foot, who might be the one born in 1791.
He married Sarah Gooderson in East Keal, near Toynton, on 21st June 1814, and was in Toynton in 1841.
In 1851, he was visiting Joseph Pick in Algarkirk, born in Connington, presumably Conningsby.
In the Stamford Mercury of 1848, he is mentioned in the sale of deceased John's lands.
On a number of trees, he died in Brothertoft in 1852.

Thanks for the lookups, I think these are all correct and I can extend my tree! Yes, there are a lot of Johns, too many in this family. I don't know how they kept them all straight.
-
Gosh I made a boo boo there the one I posted info for is likely the one who died 1847 as you said David :-[

John Lightfoot and his second wife are one set of my wife's 3x great grandparents. His great grandson William was born at Hubbert's Bridge in 1859, and subsequently migrated to Doncaster where he married and stayed until his death in 1947.

Always glad to meet a new cousin! Has your wife DNA tested anywhere? I like to tag my DNA segments with known matches. We would be somewhere in the 5th-6th cousin range, I think.
-
No, I have been able to persuade her to test so far.
