It's a subscription site, but very useful if you're following a story

If you live in NSW free on-line access to above papers if a member of the State Library. Easy to join, but must live in NSW as that's where they send the membership card number to so you can log on..

Celia seems to have had more luck than me in newspaper articles for James Bruton, as I couldn't find anything.
This site has some good information on him, including the links, but you probably already have this too?

Hi Kerbab
That death date of 1913 was something I found after a Google search, not my research, so I am not too sure how accurate it is. Further to accuracy, the Photographers website I gave you has his name in the heading as John BRUTON, but in the notes, its James BRUTON. So mistakes can be made by relying on other people's research.
I couldn't find his death notice in any of the papers I checked, and more disheartening, I couldn't even find an advertisement for his photography business.
By the way, your quote "fabulous ladies" - I'm a Leslie, not a Lesley - so maybe the reason I can't find any mention of your James Bruton is becasue I did "a man's look" ;D

My apologies to you les - shouldnt assume should I.
Bruton J. E., 10 Finch rd from Piggots Directory 1889 and there is john bruton 1894 but same address which should be James.
I got his death date of Neal Bruton's website as it is the same James. But now I want to find out if indeed he did die in Isle of Man or England.

I have allways thought Leslie was the female spelling, that's what i I tell others it is.Have to remember that in future ::)

If James died in London its possible he Taken to the I.O.M to be buried. It should say on his death cert where he was living when he died.

Hi
The GRO Index for the 1913 death has James C Bruton, I think this could be James CHARLES Bruton not your James EDWARD Bruton. Both were about the same age, James EDWARD born in South Africa while James CHARLES was born in London according to censuses.

No Celia didn't have more luck than you les.I didn't find any business that he might have had in London.Because i don't think he had one. What i did find was Brown,Barnes & Bell an establishment that was anything to do with photography. With shops in various counties in England and one 1 in Scotland. It looks like a sort of large club that photographers join to be in the link. There was quiet a few directors and James Edward Bruton was one of them.
So it wasn't his business in the mid 1880 as thought. He left the I.O.M for London according to Kerbab.
But ended up back in I.O.M Maybe his son had him taken there .Because thats where his son might have been running the shop while he was in London
