Thanks for looking Joe,
I have her on the 1871 Census, where she is married to my gg grandfather Henry Binns, they were both born in Hunslet, he was 33 and she 29.
They are on Yorks BMD being married in 1861.
Before that I can find no trace of her or her family.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the lookup Emma.
I did know some of the information but not that of Amelia's death, and I didn't have the Records Office reference numbers so they will come in very useful.
The census record of James and Thirza is useful to have too, but I'm not sure now of Thirza's date of birth. It was the 1901 census that you gave me wasn't it?
I have Thirza down as 4 in the 1871 census, if so she would have been 34 and not 37. It could have been transcribed wrong. I will see if she is on Yorkshire BMD to confirm that.
So thanks again for your help. If you get any more on Amelia (Ingham) before she was married I would be extremely grateful.
Lyn.

Have you got the Records Office Ref numbers for the 1871 census please for Henry and Amelia Binns at 7 Bowers Street, Hunslet, Leeds.
Thanks,
Lyn

That was 1901 for Thirza...3 years out on an age isn't too bad! Don't forget they didn't have newspapers and TV news telling them what the date was, so age and birthdays were pretty much guess work I would imagine...dread to think what I'd be like...I'm in denial so have to think about how old I am when people ask me!!
The refs you wanted are
Henry Binns, Head, 33, Labourer at Coal ?, Hunslet
Emily Binns, Wife, 29, Hunslet
Joseph Binns, Son, 12, Labourer at Glue Works, Hunslet
Isaac Binns, Son, 10, Scholar, Hunslet

John Binns, Son, 2, Hunslet
William Hy Wilson, Boarder, 25, Unemployed Cartman, Hunslet

Hi ........Jeanie sent me a PM with a ref. on 1851 census for Amelia Ingham......seems a but young - but now I have read the above - what do you think ????
2319/101
At 23 Fleece Lane, Leeds (South Ward - in the area close to Meadow Lane)
Josh INGHAM Head Mar 38 Overlooker - Flax B: Leeds
Mary INGHAM wife Mar 42 "
Isaac INGHAM son 6 scholar "
Amelia INGHAM dau 4 "

Thanks Kathy,
I will have to do some more checks on this one as the age doesn't seem to be right - may have been difficult to read on the original transcription.
Willl let you know.
Lyn
-
Sorry - this is from the original..........it is definately 4.......
so it may not be the same family !! Do you have Amelia's father's name from her marriage certificate ??
-
Thanks Kathy,
No I have Amelia Ingham from YorksBMD marrying Henry Binns in 1861.
I know the information for Henry Binns is correct, his daughter Annie was my g grandmother and I have the information regarding the family from my aunt.
Will have a good look again at all of my informatin and try to tie things together.

I think there are two Amelia Ingham's in Leeds....I found your marriage to Henry Binns at St Mary the Virgin, Hunslet in 1861
then there is another to George Jenkinson in 1867 at St Lukes, Sheepscar......
-
Thanks Kathy,
That thought had crossed my mind too.
Mine is definitely the Hunslet one, I'm going into the archives at Halifax tomorrow so I will see if they have the marriage record, and if I get any info from that look up the birth for Amelia.
Thanks for your help. I will let you know how I get on.

Hi Emma and Kathy,
Have been to the archives at Halifax today and found Amelia and Henry's marriage in 1861. She is down as 21 so must have been born around 1840. Her father was Joseph or Joshua and her mother Elizabeth - I didn't find her birth but that of her brother in Nov 1843.

Hi Lyn,
Progress at last!
1861
Henry Binns, Head, 22, Labourer at Iron Forge, Hunslet
Amelia Binns, Wife, 20, Hunslet
Joseph Ingham, Son in Law, 2, Hunslet
Isaac Binns, Son, 2 days, Hunslet
Benjamin Hallas, Lodger, 21, Filler at Felt Mill, Hunslet
9 Heall St, Hunslet
RG09/3369 Pg19
The census was taken on the night of 7th April 1861, so Isaac would have been born on 5th April 1861.
Regards, Emma ;)

Thanks Emma,
It's all falling into place now.
I think that I will check the registers next time I am in Halifax to find out about young Joseph, he could be Amelia's son or brother. I did find one Joseph born 1843 to Amelia's parents.
At least I have some jigsaw pieces now it's just getting them to fit in the right order!
Thanks again,
Lyn

Hi all,
I have a number of births and marriages and am still trying to piece them together;
Amelia may have been registered as Ann
I think her parents may have been Joshua and Elizabeth
Only thing I know for sure is that Henry Binns 22 married Amelia Ingham 21 at St Mary's Hunslet Leeds on 18th March 1861. I have seen that record.
I do intend to go over to the archives at Halifax to confirm any findings but it may be in a few weeks time.
So I would appreciate any help you can give re these lookups;
Any census with Joseph or Joshua Ingham probably born about 1820 in the Hunslet/Leeds area.
I do appreciate your help,
Lyn
