Hi Pam,
Many thanks for that.
Thanks to you I have been able to link Ellen Augusta to her ancestors.
Would it be possible please to find Ellen's father, William in the 1841 Census so that I could get details of his parents?
Best wishes

If the 1840 Marriage is right and the 1841 Census I sent you is also right. Will not be able to find him with parents on 1841.
Will have a look anyway.

Hi Pam,
Henry Foot Rossiter was from another Rossiter line.
It is possible that the two Rossiter lines are related in another way e.g. by a common ancestor but proving it hinges on finding out about John and Elizabeth.
I have a marriage between a John Rossiter & an Elizabeth Kendall at St James, Poole on December 2nd 1813 which would fit with this family as the first child was born circa 1815.
Is it possible to access the marriage record please to find the name of John's father and possibly John's age at the time of the marriage?

Hi Pam,
Sorry, no I'm not Sandra!!
John Smith Rossiter is too much of a coincidence. I suspect he is related.
Could Smith be the surname of Frances?

Cannot see a Frances Smith around that time or area.
Sorry for delay in answering, seem that I don't receive e-mails anymore tipping me off there has been another post. Cannot understand why??? any ideas?
Pam

Hi Pam,
Thanks for that.
As for for not being notified, you probably have not got your notifications set to e-mail you.
You need to select "Profile" at the top of the screen to access your profile details.
Then select "Notifications and Email" from the list on the left, click on all the 3 boxes until a tick appears and finally save your settings.
Please let me know how you get on.

Thanks for that have followed your steps and saved settings. So fingers crossed it should work again, don't know how or why it happened
Did notice further down that same page it states " Current Board Notifications".. you aren't receiving notifications on any board right now.
To request from a specific board click on Notify button in index of that board.
What does all that mean ??
Thanks again, if there is anything else you wish me to look at just post me
Pam
-
Hi Pam,
Glad to help.
At present you are not receiving any Current Board Notifications.
If everything works OK you should get a notification of my posting.

Sadly I didn't receive an e-mail just by chance I checked your posts for Dorset reguest.
Don't know what to try now for about four years it has worked perfectly.
Pam
-
Hi Pam,
To request notifications from a specific board, click the "notify" button in the index of that board.
There are usually some buttons just above the first post of a thread one of which is "Notify" and that will add the thread to your current board notifications.
I think you get it automatically for the threads that you start but have to request it for threads started by others.
Please let me know how you get on.

Sorry about this
I clicked on the Notify button of your Dorset -Ellen Agusta Rossiter Post
Up comes a window titled message from website
? Are you sure you wish to disable notification of new replies for this Topic.
two option buttons OK Cancel
Didn't click on either as I don't think I need to disable, what do you think?/
Sorry I am 70 years of age and I came late to this technology.
Pam
-
Hi Pam,
Thanks for your post.
The message would seem to indicate that you are already set up to receive notifications but for some reason it does not seem to be working.
All I can think of is to press "Notify" once to disable it and then press "Notify" again and press OK to re-enable it in the hope that it might reset itself and work properly.
BTW, for 70 you are doing really well. Most people think that computers are for young people but there are lots of silver surfers out there to prove them wrong. LOL!!

Hi alli,
Just checked through my database and found a Fanny Haine Rossiter baptised June 2nd 1755 at Child-Okeford, , Dorset, England.
Is that near enough to Sturminster Newton?

Hi Richard,
Thanks for that.
It looks like Fanny Haine Rossiter could be the mother of John Smith Rossiter but possibly born out of wedlock.
