I am just starting research on the McCarthy & Hurley families initially in Tralee. I have found what I believe to be both families on 1911 census and now need certificates to continue.
Michael Daniel McCARTHY was married around 1896 to a Hannah. Their son Andrew was born 1905/6 (he is the one I am interested in)
Richard HURLEY was married around 1890 to Ellen. Their daughter Mary Agnes born 1903/4 (she is the one I am interested in)
The order forms I have downloaded to obtain certificates require the females' surnames for a marriage and mother's maiden name for a birth. As I haven't got these I would be grateful for advice on what to do next. I have researched for many years but first trip into Ireland.
Any help much appreciated. Thanks Wilma

Have a look at the Ireland Resources (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,385.0.html) section - there's a few topics on searching and ordering certs etc
Irish Civil BMD Index (http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=2;t=searchable;c=1408347)
Tips for searching Irish BMD civil registrations (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,357532.0.html)
Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,433040.0.html)
p.s. you dont need the parents name etc for historic certs - search the index for the reference numbers as mentioned in the notes on the resources topics

Thanks for all the references. I have already tried the Familysearch site but am always told 'no results' or get only US references. What am I doing wrong?

as an example these are the step I did to search for the marriage for Michael Daniel McCarthy in around 1896 :
load the familysearch Index
enter Michael in the first name
enter M'Carthy in the last name (also try as McCarthy and Carthy)
select Marriage in the event type
enter 1896 in the year
enter Kerry in the location box and wait... a choice of locations will display - select Kerry, Ireland from the list
then click search
I get 16 matches for that search.
There are also parish records for Kerry available at :
