gratefull of any info.

i,ve came to a stop,I cant find the marrage of david and elizabeth ? where do I go from here?
-
Have you got all the census records for the family? Is the place of birth always the same? Have you checked the local church register? If you find a baptism for Andrew then you can go either side to see if there were other children and that may give an indication of the time they married. Arthuret is on the IGI so if it does not show up there then you need to work out to neighbouring parishes.
Who were the witnesses at Andrew's marriage?
Wills? What sort of work did they do etc. Maybe there is a Scottish connection so it might be worth looking there for the marriage.

andrew died in scotland at middlebie, dumfries.and was married in 1844 at westerkirk, dumfries.
wife was isabella maden name carruthers.
-
So what did it say about his father on the marriage certificate? Witnesses? Scottish records are usually very good.

See Genuki

Seems a more obvious place than Cumberland.

Hello
For a bit of help since you don't know the area very well:
Arthuret is the parish of Longtown, in Cumberland, England - Andrew won't have a birth certificate from that date, but does look like he was the one baptised at Arthuret, son of David Graham of Stagmire (which is in Longtown) and Elizabeth Young of Canonbie NB. Than's all the information there is, there is NO certificate, just a record of baptism.
NB meant North Britain, which is how the Cumberland parish register refers to Scotland.
So Andrew was probably born in Canonbie, where his mother lived, but baptised in England.
Could Andrews's father have lived at Mossband? There was a David Graham of Mossband mentioned later in the parish records.

Had a look at burial records for Arthuret, Kirkandrews on Esk and Kirklinton near Longtown, between 1813 and 1880: the only David Grahams were buried at Arthuret were
April 1 1812 GRAHAM David of Fauld, Farmer aged 71 years
April 12 1813 GRAHAM David aged 70 years of Randilinton
July 24 1815 GRAHAMDavid aged 5 of Foul-town
23 Jun 1839 David Graham Rhodds School House Parish of Kirkandrews on Esk 23
17 Jan 1851 David Graham Key's Mount Kirklinton 71
at Kirklinton the David Grahams buried in this period were:
Jun 11 1813 Graham David Firbank 55 Householder
Feb 26 1843 Graham David Downbyrigg 11 months
Dec 22 1851 Graham David Smithfield 3 weeks
No David Grahams buried at Kirkandrews on Esk during this period.. So possibly David moved elsewhere or was buried in Scotland? The only other David Graham who might be yours was this one:
Apr-23 1820 Bap GRAHAM John Bastard son of David Graham, Farmer of Mossband Kirkandrews Parish & Mary Irving
Nov-07 1824 Bap GRAHAM Mary Bastard daughter of David Graham, Labourer of Mossband Kirkandrews Parish & Sarah Irwing
It could be the same as your David Graham but there is no proof of this, unfortunately.
sorry can't be of more help

thanks
This is a hard one I think.
bapt 1813 Andrew was the bastard son of david graham & elizabeth young.
I think david may have been a bit of a jack the lad if its the same one from mossband.
but on andrews death cert parents were married.
could be a lie??
I,ll keep at it
thanks again
