Searching for info on Karen and Herbert Hyman who were living at 5 Princess Chambers, Market Street, Freemantle, WA in April 1930. Other family members were - Doug, Elen and Dorothy. They were originally from Victoria ;)
-
Note Elina and not Elen ;D
-
I guess it is Fremantle and not Freemantle
-
There is a Herbert Alexander Hyman at Fremantle Cemetery. Date of death 21/05/1948, age 61.
Would he be yours?
Anglican, section MON A6, grave 0200
-
That would most likely be him - the birth date approximates - thanks

Victorian BDMs.
Hebert Alexander HYMAN born to Alfred HYMAN and Georgina HAYWOOD at Melbourne in 1885 (#26920) (4th child.
Alfred HYMAN married Georgina Arabella HAYWARD in Melbourne in 1882 (#4545)
Their children were :-
Births
1st. Maurice Edgar HYMAN born Melbourne in 1878 (#24317)
2nd. Sarah HYMAN born Melbourne in 1882 (#24393)
3rd. Albert Leopold HYMAN born Melbourne in 1884 (#10852)
4th. Herbert Alexander HYMAN born Melbourne in 1885 (#26920)
Looks like Maurice was born before they were 'officially' married (or an error in recorded dates)
3rd child - Albert Leopold HYMAN married Evelyn STEVENSON at Carlton in 1906 (#4010)
-
Looks as though Maurice & Herbert came to Western Australia

When you say Karen in your original post - is she supposed to be Herbert's wife? The Herbert Alexander that is buried in Fremantle cemetery is buried with Annie Isabella Florence Hyman, who died 08/04/1955 aged 72. This ties in with the post from Sue also.
May be a different family?

If you need it, next time I am there, I will find the grave and take a photo for you. The inscription may help.
-
OK - a different Hyman then - for the Herbert Hyman that I have - Karen was his wife
However I roughly know where they fit in now - and are more remote than I thought - even though I have a family letter.
I consider my enquiry finished - thanks ;)
-
It is the correct Hyman - I have a 1930 letter from Annie Isabella Florence (Casbolt) - marriage 1 to George Thomas Marks in 1900 (George died in 1922) & marriage 2 to Herbert Alexander Hyman in 1926 - the signature looks like Karen. The letter is to a first cousin Eric Douglas

See attached

I'm a descendant of Doug Marks, (Marks, Hyman, Casbolt, Douglas) mentioned in his Mother's Letter to her Cousin Eric Douglas. Can you tell me where the letter is held so I can get a copy of my Great Grandmother's letter. Marilyn Marks
She was commonly known as Nance by close family members, but where that came from I don't know, her name was Annie Isabella Florence Casbolt, Mrs Marks, then Mrs Hyman.

I have sent you my e-mail address
-
I had interpreted her 'nickname' as Karen but it is Nance!
Nance had an aunt Annie Isabella Ryan (Douglas) Maginnity who called herself Nance and Nan; and as the former was Annie Isabella ... the 'nickname' was obviously handed down
-
I have Annie Isabella Ryan nee Douglas, married to Frank Thompson in 1920 Victoria. Did she remarry? To Maginnity!
-
I descend from his stepson, Doug Marks, happy to help. Maz
