Desperate help please. I have spent literally hundreds of hours and money ordering the wrong certificates trying to locate this person.
Thomas Loveday Born 1867 ( yet to get birth cert- there is a Thomas Henry Loveday born Highworth born 1867) in stratton Swindon Wilts ( this could be Highworth which I think is the same).
He married Elizabeth Davies my GG Granny) in 1890 in Cardiff , I have marriage cert. which confirms the former. His father is Shown as JOHN LOVEDAY but I cannot find marriage of birth cert for him.
1901 census shows thomas and his family/5 children. I have checked the marriage certs of two of his children Thomas Francis Loveday 1892 - 1960) in 1914 and Rosa Lovedays in 1918 and both show their father as deceased.
Therefore I know that thomas died between 1900 ( last child born) and 1914 date of first marriage. I can only find 2 deaths of Thomas Loveday in that time 1912 and 1913. ??? 11912 No, 1913 ?? Help please.

Many thanks for your response. Yes all you have is correct and this is my family. The age on the 1891 Wales census has been incorrectly copied from the original document - it actually should read 24 years which matches the 1867 DOB.
A twist to this tale is that Elizabeth Davies actually went on to have 5 children with Lawrence Galvin shown as Lodger on the 1901 census, one of those children was my maternal granny. Elizabeth and Lawrence were never married and Eizabeth died in 1907 as Elizabeth Loveday. I have all the birth certs for the 5 galvin children and on one of them she shows herself as Elizabeth Galvin, Late LOVEDAy nee Davies. Is this why the Loveday children went to live with HER brother on the 1911 census. I just cannot find a death for Thomas loveday the father ????

I see from some of your posts on other sites that you already have the 1912 Neath death cert and have discounted it, and that you have the Swindon 1913 certificate on order.
Children Thomas Francis and Rosa/e are with their mothers family in 1911 as already established. Have you established the whereabouts of the other three children in 1911? and of Lawrence Galvin and his children? I like you cannot find Thomas snr in 1911.
Have you considered that he may have emmigrated?
Perhaps there was bad feeling in the family and the two children who stated he was deceased just fibbed? Or perhaps it was the story the family used to save face?
-
Not considered emmigration.
Lawrence galvin and the 5 children are my family, I have complete family history and they went to Ireland. No help on either the Davies or Loveday front.
Yes all could have lied, I am trying to get leads for children Elizabeth ( possibbly a servant in Brking in 1911) and Eliza Jane, but cant find marriages etc .

You may be aware that there is a public tree in Anc*&^ry with Bertha's birth & death on it - perhaps you could make contact with the tree owner to see if they can help? (If you haven't already of course)
Vaz :)

Hi Yes done that, Gavin has let me acess his tree but no response to my emails

Just heard from Swindon that the 1913 death of Thomas W Loveday is not mine as it was registered by his wife Annie Loveday.
Thomas H Loveday birth cert shows no afther and mother as Martha Loveday ?
Really stuck with this

Just a thought...if Elizabeth LOVEDAY died in 1907 then wouldn't that technically speaking enable Thomas to marry again unhindered? If so, the fact that the wifes name is not Elizabeth on a death certificate would be irrelevant. ??? That still doesn't find him in the UK in 1911 though...
-
Just spoken eventually to a living relative of the son of Thomas Loveday i.e. Thomas Francis Loveday 1892 - 1960. he will make further enquiries but interestingly thought that Thomas Francis Loveday was a BARNARDOs boy.
Can I get records of Barnardos?
It does seem to point to Thomas Loveday 1867 being dead before 1911 census, it would be unusual for his wifes brother to takes the LOveday children if they'd had a fallout?? But I cannot find any death cert??

It's really very much easier if you keep all info on one thread. I have some more for you which I will put on the Glamorgan thread as that's where the family were in 1901.
-
Apologies, I think I understand now. To be honest I'm confusing myself with this at times but determined to get to the bottom of it. I'll continue and keep the Wales thread running as you are right this is where they last were.
