Hi Guys,
I am under going a Genealogy project for my friend i have come across his great grandfather Geoffrey Slatter who was born in 1915 in Shipston-on-Stour, i am having difficulty retrieving his Birth Cert. I know that his mothers Maiden was FOWLER. I would be grateful for any information on him.
He married Nancy Mary Robinson in 1941 in Stratford, she was born in 1915 in Cheshire, Chester West. Her Mothers name was HEATH i have requested her birth Cert.
If anyone finds any information concerning both people please let me know as it would be a great help.

Don't think it's the right marriage - Minnie was only b 1882 according to the 1911 index

She was born in 1915 and married Geoffrey Slatter in 1941.

Yes - I can see that birth but that does not prove it's the right one.
The Nancy Mary Slatter whose death is shown above was born 19th February 1919
Can your friend confirm that the death is that of Geoffrey Slatters wife as it was only 5yrs ago?
If it is - then you cannot have the right birth as your Nancy was b 1915 and Nancy Mary Slatter was b 1919

I know that Geoffrey married a Nancy M Robinson. However - the point I am making is that I don't think she is the same Nancy M Robinson b Cheshire 1915
How did you decide that the 1915 birth was the right Nancy M Robinson? Did you select it because it was the same year that Geoffrey was born or did you have some other documentary evidence that her mothers maiden name was Heath?
Do you have a full copy of the 1941 marriage cert confirming her age and her fathers name

I have a marriage Regsitry of Geoffrey F. Slatter which confirms that he married a Nancy Robinson, i then found her marriage regsirty which confirmed that she married a Geoffrey Slatter, i then typed her in in the Free bmd. and it came up with her and it said born in 1915 in chester. I looked for her birth cert and found it. i don't know how i cam accross her birth date !!! Im really confused now

When you're researching for someone else it is easy to forget that living people shouldn't be named and that we shouldn't be discussing very recent deaths.
Please refer people to resources where they can search for themselves, or pass the information by Personal Message with a record of the type of info passed posted on the thread, thanks

why shouldnt we be discusing recent deaths if it is for a genealogical purpose ? what if you have permission from the person you are researching for ?

Recent deaths might prove upsetting if they are discussed online - remember that this isn't a private conversation and while you might believe you have the permission of a family member, there might be others you haven't consulted. To try to prevent this, we ask Rootschatters to use discretion and we don't allow posts about living people at all.

OK - she is not the right Nancy. You have unfortunately spent £9.25 on the wrong birth cert. My money is on the 1919 birth in Banbury as it ties in completely with the 2005 death I found
You need to buy a copy of Geoffrey and Nancy's marriage cert to establish her age and her fathers name
I suspect you will find she was 21 or 22yrs old (not 25/26 as she would be if she was b 1915) and that her father was not George Robinson
The birth for the 1915 Nancy was registered in the June qtr 1915 in Chester and there is a marriage in the June qtr of 1940 in Chester for a Nancy M Robinson

You have the right marriage but have then made incorrect assumptions re: Nancy's birth etc. You need to take Family History a step at a time and with a surname like Robinson - you have to be very sure of your facts.
You should have bought a copy of the 1941 marriage cert first to establish how old Nancy was when they married and to find her fathers name
That would have helped narrow down a search for her birth and once her mothers maiden name is obtained from the birth reg - knowing her fathers christian name can then help to find her parents marriage

The GRO reference is March qtr 1941 Stratford Volume 6D Page 2267 and you can order online at www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/
