Hi Carole
You are welcome.
What other lines come into your family in Raunds?
Sandy
-
lol... sometimes I wonder who we left out in Raunds!!
Mainly Abbott and York, their spouses are plentiful!!
Starts with William Abbott b. 1801 married Dinah Burr 16 Jun 1822 in Raunds, Both born Raunds, but I have had no luck in confirming this.
This is from Census data only.
Jane Vorley to William, son of William & Dinah Abbott
John Abbott married Susannah Shaw 23 Mar 1856 Raunds. also son of above.
then she died and he married another Susan ? aft 1871 & before 1881
I show names of Charlotte Skinner to William Bates m.14 May 1838
there are links to WEBB and I could fill up most of the space here!!
Thanks for asking, keeps it fresh in my mind.
Take Care,
Carole

Hi Carole
I know the feeling. LOL.

Thank you very much Byron!
That is what I had suspected. Good to know for sure his Parents were William & Elizabeth.
I see you are a great asset to this board! and appreciate you taking the time to respond to my query.

Hi Carole
I have Alexander and Ann and his parents Wm and Elizabeth York in my tree too.
Have you got further back? if not let me know.
Jenny
-
HI Jenny
Have you gone up your branches on your York's.
I am just indexing some Raunds Methodist 's records and know your family were non-conformists in the village. I have taken all the graves in the Meothdist Burial ground but have yet to index them.
Who else comes into your lineage is it the same as Carole's ;D
Cheers Sandy
-
Hi Jenny
I also have just re-read Carole's post and she list Smith's of Irchester in her lineage.
These come into my line through Thomas and Heziebah.
Cheers Sandy
-
Hi Sandy
Yes Carol and I share the York line from Hargrave to Raunds etc. we are at the moment sharing knowledge and its nice to find someone who has the same interest.
I do not have any Smiths in my line - not that I have found anyway.
Am interested in the Methodist records and burial grounds, have found my Gt Grandparents grave i.e. Christopher and Hannah York but I am sure there will be more to find as the graves were quite overgrown when I visited a couple of years ago. Most of the family were staunch Methodists
Keep in touch and thanks for contacting me.

Hi Jenny
You aren't kidding about the Methodist Graveyard !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really injured my foot there trying to take the names about the same time as you.
I am transcribing some Baptisms from the Church and yesterday noted this one.
Pg 89 No 339 Bap 4 Jan 1874 Margaret Ellen to Christopher and Hannah Priscilla York of Raunds Born 6 Nov 1873.
No others yet.
If you have any other surnames and they were Methodists let me know and I will see if there are noted.
Cheers Sandy

Thanks Sandy
Hope you find many more!!

When did Christopher marry as the Baptisms I have already transcribed start in 1859.
You are always welcome to help that's what rootschat is all about.

Hi Jenny
With a excellent site like FreeBMD I should have looked before asking when Christopher married Hannah Priscilla Eaves as it states June Qtr of 1873 in Thrapston Reg District.
Always a help to anyone else tracing the same lineage though.

Hi Jenny
I have only just got to the period of Christopher and Hannah's baptisms.
I will see if any children are noted and list here later in week .
Cheers Sandy
-
Hi Jenny
No more Baptisms in the Methodist Church at Raunds for Christopher and Hannah. :(
They may as Christopher was a Lay Preacher have baptized them on another Methodist Circuit like Rushden maybe?
Will keep both yourself and Carole in mind.
Cheers Sandy
-
Thanks for keeping your eye open for me.
Good luck with the indexing
Carol and I are in contact each day with snippets which may relate somewhere and help us complete? the history of the York family

Hi Jenny and Carol
I have found a York Baptism in the Raunds Methodist Book at last.
Pg 13 No 34 Bap 7 Dec 1884 Winnifred Sarah/ Christopher and Hannah Priscilla York/ Raunds/ Born 27 Oct 1884.
As it seems Jenny it is your grandmother you may already know the above information.

She was the type of lady who would have enjoyed her moment of fame had she known she would be on RootsChat!
she died when I was 13 but I spent many happy hours with her teaching me to knit, sew and crochet.

Hi Jenny
Yes I am feeling better thank you so much for asking.
The reason I can not post all the Baptisms at once is because when we took the images my husband (bless him always helping me especially in graveyards) had to take all the odd number pages and then the even so although I am nearly at the end still looks like a few more to come from your list if there.
Let me know if any other names come into your lineage in case there are on the images (which are copyrighted) too.
I also looked at your George (of Islip Bap) today and saw that Peter was a Gatekeeper. They got around abit didn't they. ;D
Cheers Sandy
Whoops nearly forgot these
Pg 53/ No 194 02 Jun 1891
Gladys Mabel York Parents Christopher and Hannah Priscilla Raunds Born 11 Apr 1891
Also Pg 83/ No 316 18 Sep 1896
Gladys Dorothea York Parents Christopher and Hannah Priscilla Raunds Born 17 Jul 1896
Will list last ones as bulk as soon as I find them.
Cheers Sandy
-
They sure did move around.
I have received the Beds 1851 census today, lots and lots to go through, BUT not many left here, I think they all moved to Northants!!
When you managed to get the Methodist records, did you have to see the vicar? I went to see him at his home, very helpful chap.
Of course I was only doing the Yorks. Gave him a donation for his chapel tho'

Hi Jenny
I took digital images of the books at the Record Office so you are the 1st person to have details ;D as I have not checked for accuracy yet although the images are very clear.
Just done another 400 only to find that I have another 400 to do.!!!!!!!!!!!!! ::).
They will cover the years 1857 to1925 (past latest census dates) and as you know giving born dates is a god send which is 1 reason that I like to transcribe non-comformist records.
Hopefully have now done all your Yorks will list later when I get home.
Cheers Sandy

What can I say Sandy, thank you so much for all your trouble, I have all the family here this week-end which makes 8 of us!!
Bit hectic to say the least.
But still have time for my family history.

Hi Jenny
It must be great to have that many relatives around. ;D
I am home now and can list as promised earlier the last of the Baptiisms I noted as I need a computor to type it on.
I always note them on paper first as it is easier to read my own writting (believe it or not).
Pg 26/ No 88 10 Jul 1887
Harold Hugh York Parents Christopher and Annie Priscilla Raunds Born 28 Mar 1887
Pg 45/ No 161 18 Mar 1890
Ralph Henry York Parents Christopher and Hannah Priscilla Raunds Born 28 Jan 1890
Pg 64/ No 240 11 Apr 1893
Raymond Oscar York Parents Christopher and Hannah Priscilla Raunds Born 02 Mar 1893
These are all I can see so hope now that you have all you know off..
After some personal messages that I have been answering and asking today I am going to take a rest . I am very disappointed in some of what I have read.
Cheers Sandy

Hi Sandy
Sorry you are disappointed, you work so hard to help other people you must be disheartened if you do not find any other helping you.
Its my daughter and partner and our three grandchildren visiting this week-end, and my son came to cook the BBQ so it was a good evening with us all together. We don't all meet very often as daughter lives 100 miles away. Our son has no children so we miss the grand children between visits.
Thank you so much for all you have done for me, I am checking all the dates you have given me. Sometimes I only had aprox dates.
Cheers and I do hope you enjoy the rest of the week-end

HI Jenny
So glad that you have spent some quality time with your family.
I am only one of thousand of folks who assist others with their research no better than anyone else.
Let me know if you need any other help.
Cheers Sandy :)
