Hi All,
I am looking for some help regarding the birth of Frederick G Horn(e), born 1877 in Doncaster, Yorkshire. His parents were Charles Horn(e) & Sarah Ann Garrett. The family come from Woburn district Bedfordshire, and had two other children in Doncaster, Elizabeth born approx 1875 & Harriet born approx 1879. They moved back to Ridgemount Bedfordshire in 1880, and had further children.
I have no idea why they moved to Doncaster between 1875 and 1880, and then returned to Bedfordshire, and am unable to trace any birth records for the 3 Children mentioned above.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Mike.

Hi Tati,
I had not seen those records, thank you so much, I think I might order copies of the certificates to prove it.

I see Elizabeth is shown as Lizzie E in 1881, and there's this death :(
Elizabeth Ellen Horne age 17
Dec 1891 Woburn 3b 230

Trying to prove that Frederick was in fact George Frederick, I was hoping he married as George Frederick but it seems he used Frederick George:

Frederick George Horne - Louisa Buttery

Hi Tati,
Can I ask were you found that marriage record, as I use Ancestry, and it is not coming up.

I got it off FreeBMD www.freebmd.org.uk but I see it on ancestry's FreeBMD index as well.
:)
Added: it's also on Staffordshire BMD, where it tells us it was a civil marriage

Hi Tati,
Yep, that looks like him....I have his Youngers brothers service record for the army (Alfred James Horne), and is states in 1914, that his elder brother Frederick, was in the Bedfordshire Bn, so that definitely matches.
You have uncovered so much information, it's so appreciated, however I have one slight confusion with what you found. My link to this family is John Horne, (Great Grandfather). I had him as the eldest of the siblings, born in Ridgemont, Bedfordshire in Q1 1875. I then had the next three siblings (Elizabeth, Frederick & Harriet) born in Doncaster at later dates. John lived with his Grandparents in Ridgemont in 1881 & 1891. Now it appears, Elizabeth Ellen born Q4 1874, in Doncaster may have been the eldest, but they are too close together, so I must have one of their births wrong.
I think I need to order some certificates to prove.
Thank you so much for your help.
Regards,
Mike.

If I'm looking at the correct John, then he is already 8 in 1881 (but 17 in 1891 and 25 in 1901)
I wonder if this would be a possible birth registration
William John Horne
Dec 1873 Woburn 3b 388

Hi Tati,
Thank you for your continued help.....It could well be William John, so I will need to order some certs.

I have received the birth certs, and he indeed born in Doncaster, and lived at Paper Mill Terrace, Henthrope. Does anyone recognise this address. His father was a railway labourer, so must have moved up north from Bedfordshire, to help build the railways, I would imagine. His birth record states him as George Frederick Horne.
Can anyone confirm this address.

Hi Mike
I would think it probably says Hexthorpe. :)
Doncaster & District FHS have produced 2 CDs of staff registers for the Railway Works "The Plant."

I also found this thread which maybe of interest.
