Title: Ann Wheatley
Post by: scots lass on Monday 06 September 10 14:02 BST (UK)
Bit of a strange one this, so please bear with me.

While up in Scotland on holiday we visited my sister-in-law and we got round to talking about family tree, my brother in-law brought out a picture of his Mum and Dad taken on their wedding day in RAF unifom in 1943, this is the only picture he has as his Mum spent months in an Iron Lung just after Ronnie was born and died when he was still a tiny baby. Ronnie has managed to find the marriage certificate but is really struggling to find her birth one, only information I have is her name was Ann Wheatley could possably be her first name was Emma and she used her middle name, she was born in Spalding Linconshire I would dearly love to give Ronnie the information he needs, and would be grateful for any help as so where and what i can do to find this.

Thanks all sorry if its a bit of a mumble here.

Is her age on the marraige cert or does it just say 'full age'

Where does the info that she may be called Emma and that she was born Spalding come from?

The only marriage I can see in 1943 is for an Annie L Wheatley in Staines Middx, to a George Lawrence - is that her?
If not - where did it take place?
And what is all the info from the marrige cert - fathers name and occupation etc.

This is so strange! I was looking up mine and my husband's family names and this came up! It looks like an interesting website!
You wouldn't believe it but I have that same picture in front of me here in Australia!
I am Joyce Hunter and my husband Leslie was the eldest son of Emma Ann and Frederick Hunter.
Unfortunately he passed away on November 18th last year. We were on holiday in Europe and he was admitted to Southampton General hospital where he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer which had spread to his bones. Sadly he died five weeks after an emergency flight home to Australia. He was a wonderful husband, the love of my life and a very brave man at the end.

How sad newport1, but I hope that finding this on Rootschat will bring you together with some of your husband's family.

Thank you Polly!

We did try to get together with his brother for some support but at the time they were busy with other things and were unable to accommodate us in Glasgow. They suggested that we go to London  - which is why Leslie was in Southampton hospital. It was a very good hospital and the hotel we stayed in wasn't as expensive as the central London hotels. Luckily my son flew out from Australia to give us some support. The hospital staff were great and did their utmost to get him home to Australia. Even though he was born in Scotland he still called Australia home!
I think he still has some cousins in Lincolnshire and he has two daughters, a stepson and a granddaughter here in Australia.
I have no brothers or sisters but I'm just starting to research my family tree
now that I'm on my own with plenty of free time.
