Title: Irvine Churchyard
Post by: Yvonne19 on Saturday 09 October 10 10:25 BST (UK)
Hi,
Does anyone have access to MI's in Irvine Churchyard?
I'm looking for Robert Jamieson who was married to Mary Wyllie.  I've found a death which seems very possible.  Death cert shows Robert Jamieson died 27 Aug 1858 aged 85 in Irvine and it says buried in Irvine Churchyard.  Unfortunately it says he was widowed and doesn't give his wife's name, informant Hugh Higgins (brother in Law).  If anyone has access to the MI's I wondered if the inscription might have any more infomation as to other family members.

Thanks for any help.

Hello again Yvonne19
Just had a quick look on the Ardrossan & Saltcoats BMD archives
there is a Robert Jamieson but the date conflicts with yours.

Robert Jamieson 04 09 1858 High Street Irvine
                                   late farmer Crofthead Kilwinning.
                                                                                       Brosie.

Hi Brosie,

thanks for your reply - looks very simlar, the death cert I have gives his residence as High Street, Irvine, but no occupation.  The death cert says buried in Irvine. Churchyard, as certified by John ..... ...... Undertakers.  It was registered on 30th August 1858.  I guess there could have been a change of where he was buried after the death was registered?

Perhaps I need to find out if there is a MI in a Churchyard at Saltcoats or Ardrossan.
