Title: Looking for Mary BOWHAY circ 1720's
Post by: Camdenite on Tuesday 02 November 10 08:59 GMT (UK)
Looking for information in relation to Mary Bowhay who married James Grills/Grylls at Callington in around 1749.

James Grills/Grylls was born 1724 at St.Mellion and died 1782 or 1802 again at St.Mellion.
Unfortunately, I have absolutely no records for Mary Bowhay excepting that mentioned above.

I'm in search of Mary's Date of Birth/Baptism, Location, Parents names etc.

in an attempt to assist in the search.

James and Mary had 3 children (known as per records) these being:

John Grills born 1750, Callington died 1831, Quarry, Menheniot.
John married Elizabeth Giles in 1787 at Liskeard and according to records married Mary Anstis in approx. 1823 at Menheniot.
James Grills born 1753, St Mellion.
and William Grills born 1756, St Mellion and died at approx. 62 years of age. William Grills married Mary Clemens around 1811 at Duloe.

That's all the information that I have at my disposal. If anyone has any information in relation to Mary Bowhay, I would very interested in hearing from you.

Cheers
Camdenite.

Two possibilities
1716 Callington Mary Bowhay to John Bowhay (mother not named)
1723 Stoke Climsland (not that far from Callington) Mary Bowhay to Sampson and Judith Bowhay.

There is a will for a Sampson Bowhay at the CRO - that may help if Mary is his daughter and he names her as Mary Grills.

Hi Fizzy,
Thank you very much for the information on Mary. I think I've been down the track of the 1716 Mary and seemed to run into a bit of a dead end. But I have not been down the Sampson and Judith path. I will certainly look into this line and see where it leads me.
Basically, it is the missing piece in my outline puzzle presently before I start digging for more information on the bits I have acquired.

Again, thank you for you reply and I will post my findings back here.

Cheers
