hi wonder if any one can help me i am searching the irish birth of my g g g g grandparents james campbell and margaret ashcroft they came over to liverpool in 1800"s my g g g g grandfather was born in 1791 in monaghan ireland

Civil registration only started in 1864, so James & Margaret will not be included. To search for earlier records you will need to research church records (if they exist), and to do this you need to know the family religion and a more detailed location for them - i.e.parish, town or townland.

Yes there's some good stuff there to start with, Campbell is quite a common name but Ashcroft might be better to start with for searches. Every tiny detail can really help so go through everything with a fine toothcomb! It ain't easy....

yes i am searching for a place or church records in monaghan southern ireland my g g g g grandparents james campbell born 1791 and margaret campbell nee ascroft on find my past it says they were born there them immigrated in 1800"they married over here in liverpool in 1810 is there church records for that place

two details you need to know before researching parish records

 1. the family religion
 2. a detailed location for them - i.e. parish, town or townland

Once you establish these you can than check to see if records exist for the parish in question.
