Looking for the birth/baptism of Richard Griffin Power probably 1802 but maybe as early as 1796. His parents were Harris Power and Joanna Antonia Lucia Millot. Sorry don't know which area of Jersey.
All help gratefully received.

Maybe I posted this under the wrong heading so have re-posted under the general look up thread. Sorry!

Hi
I'm sorry but there is no RGP baptism around this time. In fact the surname Power only crops up once and the father was a soldier. Do you have any idea on the parents?

Hi Stewart,
Many thanks for your help so far. Could it be that the record you found matches the following?
The father of Richard Griffin Power was Harris Power a professional full-time soldier. From c1803 to 1811 he was a Major in the Kings German Legion (formerly the Kings German Regiment). I don't know what regiment(s) he served in prior to 1803 but he was definitely a soldier and saw action in the Peninsular War.
Richard Griffin Power married in 1848 in Surrey and on all the subequent UK censuses gives his place of birth as Jersey.
The parents of Richard Griffin Power were Harris Power (English) and Joanna Antonia Lucia Millot (Nederlands).
Thanks again.

Hi Ann
I'll have to look again as I didn't write anything down.

Stewart - I don't know if it helps in the search but all Richard Griffin Power's siblings were baptised in Catholic churches.

Hi Ann
The Power baptism that I had see was in St Ouen for a Patrick Power, the son of Michael and Jane Power, on 16th Jan 1800. Michael was in the Regiment of Loyal Irish Fencibles. So no connection.
I have also look through the military baptisms 1784 to 1817 and General Don's military census of 1806 and found no mention of a Power. The earlist list of catholic baptisms starts 1811.
