Title: Ralston
Post by: TW70 on Tuesday 08 February 11 21:35 GMT (UK)
Hi,

Can anyone help me trace back Daniel Ralston.  He had a son, Daniel, to Sarah Logue around 1854 to 1855.  Am afraid I have no idea where in Irelance but Daniel Snr was a Marine Store Dealer before or on 1879 and was listed as a Solicitor at his son's death in 1922 - any leads most welcome.

Sorry typo - meant to say Daniel jnr was born in Ireland and his mum and her parents left for Glasgow sometime before 1861

To find Irish ancestors for such an early period you need to see if church records exist.
Have a look at Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html) and My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start? (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,498742.0.html).

What were Sarah's parents' names?  It might provide a lead.

Hi John,

Sarah's parents were Hugh and Jane Logue born around 1805 and 1810 respectively.  They also had sons Hugh and Thomas born around 1840 and 1850 with Sarah born around 1833 - all born in Ireland as well as Sarah's son Daniel.
