Dear Roots-chatters,
If anyone would like a look- up from the parishes of either Templeludigan or Killanne for the 1834 Tithe Applotment Books, please send me a message, as I have print-outs from the microfilms for my own research. As far as I know, the parishes are complete, with I think, the exception of Corrageen.

Are there any WATKINS listed in the Enniscorthy area (+/- 10 miles or so), and specifically in the Townlands of Clonjordan, Monalee & Ballycrystal in Templeshanbo Civil Parish?
Best regards,

Hi Douglas,
1825
Joseph Walkins Monalee Townland, Templeshambo Parish, Co. Wexford
William Walkins - Gurteen Townland, Templeshambo Parish, Co. Wexford
I think this is a close bet - I often find the same variation of spelling with my O'Brien/Bryan/Brien ancestors. Hope this is of help!

Thank you for the offer Tamsin. Any Leary in Forrestallstown area?
-
Hi,
Learys in Forrestalstown 1826 (here listed as under Killegney Parish, not Clonroche.)
Thomas Leary
Patt Leary
Michael Leary
Martin Leary
John Leary (appears twice, but neither distinguished as Sr or Jr)
James Leary
Learys in townland spelt Ratthlurlin, Killegney on tithes (possibly Rathfylane, Clonroche?)
Michael Leary
John Leary
& also a James Leary at Killegney Townland, Killegney
- also, not sure if this is relevant or not, but Cantwell's memorials for Wexford lists burials for some Learys of Killegney and Clonroche at Ballybrennan Cemetary. Is this of any interest to you?
All the best,
Tamsin

:) Wow. This is great news for me. Thanks so very much Tamsin. I was expecting Joseph at Monalee, but William is a suprise at Gurteen (I was expecting him to be at Ballycrystal).
Thanks again and best regards,
Douglas Watkins

Hi,
Learys in Forrestalstown 1826 (here listed as under Killegney Parish, not Clonroche.)
Thomas Leary
Thank you Tamsin, this Thomas is the one I'm focused on. Do you have any further details? I did get them from microfilm years ago but sadly seem to have lot them.

Hi,
I had a look at the version of Cantwell's Memorials but I couldn't find a Thomas Leary that was the right match for place or dates. The only Thomas Leary that was a reasonable match date-wise was at the address Ballyvalloo - but I don't think that would be the one you are looking for?
Just in case, though, he was Thomas Leary 1804 - 13.Dec.1856, stone erected by his wife Bridget.
The Learys listed at Ballybrennan Cemetary are:
"Erected by the Widow Leary of Killegney in memory of her beloved husband James Leary who departed this life January 25th 1848 aged 72 years, also her daughter Catherine Leary died September 25th 1845 aged 17 years."
"Here lies ye body of James Leary who died July 2nd 1760 aged 55 years."
"Erected by Andrew Leary in memory of his mother Mary Leary, late of Clonroche who depd. this life Novr. 1839 aged 56 years, also his brother Richard Leary died March 20th 1853 aged 32."
- I don't know if this is relevant to you, but the first headstone is one of two headstones apparently next to each other on the same kerbed grave, listed in the memorials as an 'A' and a 'B' set. The 'A' headstone is the Leary one; the 'B' headstone belongs to the Mernagh family.
Sorry I couldn't find a listing for Thomas. With regards to Cantwell's Index, I find the same thing when looking for ancestors - some of them are listed and others I can't find.
All the best,
Tamsin

Dear Tamsin
Thank you for your very kind offer.
Do you have any Fitzhenrys or Fitzharrises over in the Templeludigan area? They may also be in the townland of Monamolin.
The family which I am looking for migrated the short distance from St Mullins and Ballyleigh.
Thank you
Jo Fitz-Henry

Hi Jo,
Here are the Fitzhenrys I could find in the prints from the microfilms. This should be complete - some of the pages are hard to read.
QID Quantities in Detail
RAV Real Acreable Value
Rathduff, Killanne:
John Fitzhenry (Total Quantity of Land in Holding) 16, 1, 26.5/ (Quality of Land) 3rd and 4th Grade/ (Rent Paid) 5 shillings, 8 pence.
Monomolong,Templeludigan:
James Fitzhenry (QID) 30, 3, 0/ (RAV) £1, 15 shillings
Michael Fitzhenry (QID) Same/ (RAV) £1, 12 shillings
Re: Monamolin no Fitzhenrys mentioned, but there is a Garrett Fitzgerald I dont know if this is relevant to you. No rents are mentioned for Templeludigan.
Hope this is of help :)
