Can someone please help me with a place name that I can find no record of. My ggg grandfather Morgan O'Loughlin is listed in the Ennistymon Union Minute Books (Book No. 4 Meetings held from 11th February 1848 - 28th February 1848) as being a steward for the electorate of Killonahen. Morgan O'Loughlin was from a property named Greyrock and his daughter Margaret lists her place of birth as Greyrock, County Clare on her marriage certificate to James Kenny.
I can't seem to find any record of a place named Killonahen and wondered whether anyone can shed any light? If the name has been changed, can you tell me the current place/region name? I'm in Australia, very new to family history searching and am not familiar with many place names in Ireland. Any help/leads would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks.

Place names often refer to townlands, which are the smallest unit of land division in Ireland. A database of these can be searched at - www.thecore.com/seanruad I dont see any close matches on the townland database for Killonahen,
Given the context I would have said that it maybe an electoral district, but there is a civil parish with the name - Killonaghan Probably the same place name written phonetically in the records you viewed.
The civil parish contains about 18 townlands, you can search for these on the townland database.
