Hi
My great, great grandfather William Anderson was born on 14 Oct, 1877. On his birth certificate it states that his father was also called William Anderson and that he was a hotel keeper on Crown Street, Northwich.
Is there any way of finding out about pubs/ hotels of that time in the area and portentially which one he was the keeper of?
Many thanks,
Adam.

In the Kelly's Directory of Cheshire, 1896 there are two pubs in Crown Street, the Crown Hotel and the Goldsmith's Arms. http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/

Hi Adam,
Try this link:
http://replay.waybackmachine.org/20090730141756/http://geocities.com/Brigaban/licensees.html
The site no longer exists but some of the pages are retrievable through the wayback machine.
This site used to have licensees of all pubs in the Northwich area and shows William Anderson as licensee of the Crown in 1878 - 9. If you click on the link to the pub it will give you more information.
Hope this is useful,
Jean

Hi Adam
You might like to have a look at this site (Cheshire Archives). Just select Cheshire Images then Search the Images.
Then Northwich Pubs in the search box.
There are a few pictures of The Crown in Northwich.

Hope this helps
