A new UK BMD site, Darlington, has just gone online.
http://www.darlington.gov.uk/Living/Register+Office/RegOfficeSearch.htm
I have no idea how good it is, as I am not searching in Durham, but the UK BMD sites are usually pretty good.
Maybe a Durham-searcher could add a review here ?

Another great site, particularly for marriages is:
http//www.durham.gov.uk Marriage records no longer available 2014
It has a link to the other party, and if a female marrying again shows both her names.
Does not cover, South Durham i.e. Stockton, Hartlepool or Northern areas Sunderland & South Shields.
Stockton etc are covered by http://www.teesvalley-indexes.co.uk (http://www.teesvalley-indexes.co.uk)

For anyone looking up bmds on the Tees Valley website, here is a list showing which Churches are covered by which reference number in the indexes for Hartlepool and Stockton. Keep looking as there may be updates
