I'm searching for earlier relatives of James Daniels & Jane Hardy who were married 22 September, 1839 in Gainsborough.
I'm prepared to offer copy certificate(s) in exchange for positive info.

Hi
Welcome to rootschat :)
The marriage at All Saints, Gainsborough gives James Daniels father as John and Jane Hardy's father as William

Hi Rosie, - That was quick !
Yes, I have fathers John and William on the marriage cert., but as yet have not been able to establish their B & M dates
-
Hi
I am assuming you have the full certificate - are you able to give the details of fathers occupations and all places of residence from it please.
Thanks,
Rosie

John Daniels was a hatter, William Hardy a weaver; both resided Gainsboro' .

I see a William HARDY 60 Hemp Weaver, in Owston in 1841
and a Jane HARDY bap there 29 Feb 1816, dau of William and Mary. Presumably, you have Jane's birthplace and could confirm this. Place of residence at marriage has nothing to do with birthplace.
William HARDY married Mary MARTIN 9 July 1805 at Owston.
In 1841 his wife was Elizabeth 50 ... following marriage
6 Sept 1831 at Owston, William HARDY (wid) to Elizabeth COLLINGWOOD
EDIT: I see 1851 census gives Jane's birthplace as "Ferry" - this is an alternative name for "Owston Ferry". :)
I think this may be James's baptism - it doesn't mean that he was born in 1825 ... a brother (John) was bap the same day, it doesn't make them twins http://tinyurl.com/5t99zn5
The baptism on FreeREG confirms DoB as 1819 and father as a Hatter http://freereg.rootsweb.com/cgi/SearchResults.pl?RecordType=Baptisms&RecordID=5521613

I see Hannah DANIELS 76 in Church St, Gainsborough in 1851 - she was born in Sheffield (Yorks) so perhaps married in Yorks too.

Yes, Owston Ferry was my favourite for Jane Hardy's birthplace. Her father Williams' occupation as a hemp weaver would have been well appropriate for the area in those days.
I can see I lost myself on this a few months ago due to the second marriage...an error which caused me frustration.
So, I will now gratefully follow up your info.
Many thanks to you & Rosie for your prompt assistance.
My first day on this site a very productive one... tks again.
