Could I please ask SKS who has a copy of the marriage Index for Beltisloe to see if there is a marriage, possibly in Colsterworth, prior to 1767 of a Thomas Ball & Elizabeth (maiden Name Unknown)
Many thanks in anticipation
Alan :)

Hi Alan :)
I'm wondering what you are basing your request on ... the only kids I can see of a Thomas BALL and Elizabeth in the IGI were those at Sleaford, 1772 on, presumably children of Thomas BALL and Elizabeth MUGGLESTON who married there in 1771.

Hi Geoff :)
Sorry to confuse you and any others out there but I think I have now lost the plot ::) I desperately need to find a dark room in which to lie down in, old age has finally caught up with me. :(
The family I’m looking for should have read Bingham not Ball and should have been prior to 1762 not 67 :-[
This is based on this baptism in Colsterworth
http://tinyurl.com/5wmub95 There are a total of 5 baptisms for children of Thomas & Elizabeth in Colsterworth between 1762 & 1771
Once again sorry for sending you off on a wild goose chase

Sorry, I can't see a suitable marriage ???
Of course, two other counties are within an hour's walk of Colsterworth http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=490185&Y=322580&A=Y&Z=126

Hi Alan,
Have checked Colsterworth parish records in Grantham library and have found the information in regards to Thomas Bingham & Elizabeth Bignall .It is only the BANNS of marriage. Info is as follows.
Bans of marriage between Thomas Bingham of this parish and Elizabeth Bignall of Buckden in Huntingdonshire were published on October 18th/25th & November 1st 1761.By R.Radcliffe(Rector)
So it is possible that the actual marriage took place Buckden??.
Hope this helps
Kathy

Many thanks Kathy for taking the time and trouble to search the Parish records for me it is greatly appreciated. ;)
I notice the third and final Banns were not read out at Colsterworth until 3 days before the wedding, they cut that fine. :o
Also to you Geoff once again you’ve come up trumps many thanks for that. :)
As for the maiden name of Elizabeth I’m working on it being Rignal, this name seems to be a fairly common to Huntingdonshire but what does amaze me is the distance between the bride and grooms abodes, nearly 40 miles and they didn’t have the luxury of a dual carriage way A1 in those days.
Once again many thanks to the both of you. :)

They had some thing even better - The Great North Road :)

My relatives in Stamford still call it the Great North Road where it used to run through the town crossing the Welland and passed the George Hotel .
Also my late father helped in the construction of the dualing of the section from Stamford to Grantham when he worked as a driver for the Grantham Motor Company back in the 1920's.
