Title: Passenger Lists - McArdle - Orotava Ship
Post by: gwarwick on Saturday 23 April 11 21:53 BST (UK)
Hi, could anyone do a search for me please?
I'm looking for a John McArdle primarily on the Orotava (or Oratava) ship.
He was apparently a marine fireman.
He was about 1867.

Thanks very much.

He was about 1867.

Does this mean he was born in 1867 or that he emigrated in 1867

And where do you think / know he emigrated to and from?
You say he was a marine fireman on the ship.  Do you think he signed off somewhere?

Have you tried the archivist at P&O?  Not that probably they'd be much help, though if he was a fireman then maybe they would have the record, or know where it is.  My daughter's father was a steward on P&O ships as recently as the 1950s and 1960s. for some years, but the shipping line said they had no record of him when we tried to re-establish contact!!

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies.

Sorry I did mean that he was born about 1867.
The information I have is only from family stories, but it was believed that he came from the USA on the Orotava as a marine fireman. He was married in Liverpool in 1915, but was married before this as well.

I have looked on Ancestry but I can't access the passenger lists, but I know there are some names matching. I was hoping one would be on the Orotava ship.

Thanks
