Hello,
For years, I search about CARY/CAREY Ursula Mary Ann's birth in Wexford county, about 1857/1859.
She married in Enniscorthy in 1875 (18 years old) with John CHUBB.
I would like to find her birth to know the parents (father is Richard, clergyman) and if possible the 1861 census to see relatives.
I thank everybody for help.

Full civil registration started in 1864 - so there are no birth certs before that date. For earlier details you will need to research parish records, and to do this you first need to establish the where the family lived at the time - i.e. town, townland or parish.
Do you know which parish Richard was based in at the time of the birth ?
The only surviving complete census returns are the ones for 1901 and 1911.

Hello Shane,
All I know about Ursula's father is what I saw on her marriage certificate attached.
I've found a Richard CAREY married to Caroline Ursula Lane in Devon in 1853.
Then they came in Wexford and had 4 children from 1864 to 1871, born in Ballycarney-Enniscorthy-Newtownbarry .
Richard died in Enniscorthy in 1874.
But I have nothing to rely them to MY Ursula...

full certs are not allowed on RootChat, just small extracts.
I found a possible possible listing for Ursula's father in Co. Tipperary in the Established Church section (i.e. Church of Ireland) of the Ecclesiastical directory in Thom's between 1852 and at least 1863. He is he only Richard Carey listed in that section. Details - as follows :
Richard Carey, incubmant of Kilfithmore
Diocese : Cashel
Post Town : Borrisoleigh
maybe Ursula was born there ?
This parish and townland seems to be listed in the townland index as Kilfithmone, for some details see the entry in Lewis Topagraphical Directory of 1837 : Civil Parish of Kilfithmone (http://www.libraryireland.com/topog/K/Kilfithmone-Eliogarty-Tipperary.php) (Library Ireland)

The Richard Carey mentioned above is listed at the same parish in 1850 and also 1848.

do you have certs for these births ?
Since it seems that Richard was a minister back to at least 1848 , the father's occupation on these should help confirm or rule out the connection....

No, I have not order the fourth certificates because I was not sure they were the good brothers and sisters and above all because I can't pay on line or by cheque from France (it's quite complicated...and cost a lot).
I only can put bank note of 10 euros in an enveloppe with the file (that is what I have done for John and Ursula's marriage certificate) which is not a securided way...
After marriage, Ursula and husband went to Dorset in 1876 then to Channel Islands in 1877 where they stayed.
On Jersey census, she is known to be born in Wexford (county I suppose).
On Jersey census were also Edward Southwell CARY, son of Richard CAREY and Caroline Ursula Lane....
But always nothing really to rely them definitively together.
Is there a 1861 Wexford county census on line ?

the best way to check the link is with a birth cert for one of the children born in Enniscorthy. I see a good match for one of them on the BMD Index :
Name: Richard Radcliffe Cary
Registration district: Enniscorthy
Event type: Birth
Year: 1869
Volume : 4 / Page : 850
If you order a research cert using the references above it should only cost €5

Dear Shane,
I have received the fourth birth certificates for the CAREY's family.
All are from : Superintendent Registrar's district of Enniscorthy - Birth registered in district of Newtownbarry, county of Wexford.
Edward Southwell CAREY : born 25/04/1864 in Munfin. Father is Richard Radcliffe CAREY, Munfin, profession FARMER (mother = Caroline Ursula CAREY, formaly LANE)
Harriet : born 07 may 1866 in Mountffin. Father Richard Radcliffe CAREY, Mountfin, profession gentleman (mother = Caroline Ursula LANE)
Richard Radcliffe : born 7 february 1869, Ballycarney. Father Rev. Richard Radcliffe CARY, Munfin Ballycarney, profession Clerck (mother = Caroline Ursula LANE)
Frances Adelina Mathilda : born 29 augsut 1871 in Munfin. Father Richard Radcliffe CAREY, Munfin, profession Clerk in orders (mother = Caroline Ursula LANE)
On my Ursula Mary Ann's marriage certificate, the father is named Richard CAREY (clergyman) but not Richard Radcliffe. In an other way, URSULA is the second given name of Caroline Ursula LANE....
What must I think ? Is Ursula the daughter of Richard Radcliffe and Caroline ?
