I have Joseph Shepherd & Mary Parnham marrying in Flintham in 1759.
I'm trying to find their childrens' baptisms, especially Ann Shepherd who is my line.
Unfortunately, the entries on the old IGI are all submitted by an LDS member, so I'd really appreciate it if anyone can do me a look up.
These are the submitted baptisms I have found:
9.11.1759 Flintham John Shepherd buried Nov 1759
5.10.1761 Flintham Ann Shepherd
20.3.1766 Flintham John Shepherd buried 22.3.1766
4.12.1768 Flintham John Shepherd buried 29.12.1768
19.8.1770 East Stoke Mary Shepherd
19.5.1771 Flintham Mary Shepherd
[I'm confused about the 2 Marys. Have they been jumbled together or did the first one die?]
24.12.1775 East Stoke Richard Shepherd
28.8.1779 East Stoke Joseph Shepherd
23.7.1786 East Stoke Elizabeth Shepherd
29.3.1788 East Stoke John Shepherd buried 20.4.1790.
[There's also a proper extracted IGI for the baptism of a Jane Shepherd in nearby Syerston on 24.2.1784. Plus, I have Joseph's will and he makes mention of 3 children not named above: Thomas, Sarah and William].
I would be extremely grateful for any help. ;D

Hi Jill
There is also a Ann baptised in East Stoke to Joseph & Mary 12.4. 1772
In the notes section next to the baptisms it states - See family notes on fiche. Have you seen these notes?

Thanks - I missed that one.
I can't think that all of these submitted IGIs are correct. There are so many.
Does anyone have the baptisms CD for East Stoke and Flintham to double check them for me?

Hi Jill
East Stoke is covered on the Notts FHS CD, but not Flintham
Here are the one's from East Stoke, some of the dates are a year out from the IGI
Mary 19.8. 1770
Ann 12.4. 1772
Joseph 28.8. 1778 (born & baptised on the same day)
Elizabeth 23.7. 1785 (born & baptised on the same day)
John 29.3. 1787 (born 28.3. 1787)
I can have a look at the Flintham baptisms the next time I am at the Records Office. (if no one else has done it before then)

Thanks Carol, that would be very kind of you. I did try to get that CD but it wouldn't operate on my version of Vista (long story).
At least now I know most of those East Stoke baptisms are for real (though not necessarily accurate!).
Interesting that there was no Richard, though mentioned in the submitted IGIs. he was specifically named in his father's will.
The brain is getting very befuddled!!

Hi Jill
I Looked at the Flintham records today and can confirm that the submitted enties you found are there. No additional information
The East Stokes baptisms were there as well and 3 of the entries goes loads of information. A real bonus.
Joseph Shepherd son of Joseph Shepherd of East Stoke, Labourer, son of Joseph Shepherd of Ruddington, Labourer, by his wife Mary daughter of William Gee of East Stoke, Scuttlemaker, by Ann his wife born Friday 28 August 1778.
I wish they were all like that!
Carol
Elizabeth 1785 & John 1787 baptism also gave the same information

Carol,
That's fantastic! I'd got as far as finding a second Joseph Shepherd/Mary marriage (i.e. to Mary Gee) but the information about Joseph and Mary's parentage is outstanding.
As you rightly say, what a pity they're not all like that!!
You've set me off now, hunting down their baptisms!!
Thanks everso,
Jill
