My great-grandfather Henry Dinsdale moved his family from Liverpool to Colwyn Bay in 1911. They lived at first in Old Colwyn , but then moved to an address in Rhiw Bank Avenue. He was a motor mechanic and with his son ( also Henry/Harry ) begin Albert Engineering which is still in Albert Place as the Albert Place MOT Testing Station. Henry Snr died in 1941 and his wife Alice in 1942 and are buried in Bron Y Nant Cemetery .Other family members continued to live in Colwyn Bay until Harry died in 1993. Although I know quite a bit about them already I'd be grateful to receive any information which anyone may have. I'd be particularly interested in any information which anyone may have regarding their daughters Agnes , Dorothy , Alice and Eva.

Hi and thanks for your valuable information. I did know that Dorothy Dinsdale had married a Hannen and was in Eastbourne at the time of her death and that they had a daughter called Joyce. However I didn't know any of the other information about them which you provided- Joyce's husband , emigration , etc.
Thanks also for the details of Alice's death.

Hello again and thanks for the information regarding Agnes Dinsdale. Again thanks for the information about Dorothy Hannen ( nee Dinsdale). I have an 84 year old aunt still alive who , rather confusingly , was also called Dorothy Dinsdale before she married. She knew Dorothy Hannen slightly so will try to find out whether she knows of their trip to New Zealand.

Hi. My mother, Pat Hannens father Frank was friends wilt Harry Dinsdale and I took him to visit him once in Colwyn bay were he lived with his sister.

To Mdj441 many thanks for your reply to my post several years ago. I wonder if your mother's father Frank Hannen was related to Edward Hannen. My greatgrandfather's daughter Dorothy Dinsdale from Colwyn Bay married an Edward Hannen in about 1924/5 who was I believe in the haulage business.

To Mdj441, many thanks for that information regarding Frank and Edward Hannen. Very interesting!

Apparently Edward was a millionaire according to my mother.

To Mdj441 it certainly sounds as though they were reasonably well off.I believe that they lived briefly in New Zealand and had a daughter ( Joyce?).Not sure about grandchildren Dorothy Hannen died in Eastbourne, I'm told.Think her husband had died in 1960s.
