Hugh WASON, born 04 Feb 1873 in Ballantrae, Scotland. Moved to South Africa early 1900's with his brother Charles WASON. Married Christine Bruce MURRAY on 22 Dec 1910 in Cape Town. Had one son Donald Douglas Bruce WASON (according to his death notice). Worked as an Assayer at Cam and Motor Mine, Gatooma, Southern Rhodesia. Died 25 Sep 1940 Gatooma Hospital. Surviving family being his wife and son. Lived on the mine premises at the time of death.
I have been told by a grand-daughter of his brother Charles, of a visit at her house in the Johannesburg area, and I quote: "..in the late '50's early 60's by a Donald Wason (from one of the Rhodesias) arrived at our house in South Roodepoort. He had his wife, twin daughters, Jean and Donna plus a son Hugh!"
Does anyone have any further info on Hugh, Christine or Donald, and descendants?
Ivan.

Many thanks for the info AMBLY.
Although the voyage back to Scotland was not permanent because they were all back in S Rhodesia at the time of his death.
I will certainly follow up on the Facebook link because Stuart Ross WASON is almost certainly the grandson of DDB WASON.
There are also two further potential family members to chase up who appear to be descendants of Hughs brother Charles.

I have an ancestor I believe called Janet S. Ross who may be my aunt, who when she returned by ship to Uk from Lagos once in 1946 and again in 1948 she listed her destination as" Allandale", Stanley Perthshire. She was a nursing sister. Can you tell me, was this a private house or a nursing home or what?
Many thanks Estelle Ross

Hi David.
Thanks very much for the contact.
My wife is the grand-daughter of Charles Wason who left Scotland late 1890's / early 1900's through his youngest son, also Charles.
I have had contact with relatives of the eldest son Hugh, but the middle son David Mitchell Wason (your grand-father) has drawn a blank thusfar.
I have the family tree going back to 1800 thanks to extensive research from Hunter Boa - a distant cousin in Scotland who has a website on Ballantrae families, and another distant cousin in Australia, Ann Turnbull.
I'm trying to get the South African branch of the Wason family updated, so I'd love to get information from your side.
I heard that your family has emigrated to USA, is this correct?
Given the policy not to divulge details here of living persons, perhaps we can correspond via e-mail? If so, I'll send a personal message.

Hi Pampoen/Dereck.
Thanks for that. I have a copy of the Death Notice, but not this document.

That's funny I didn't know the site would strip names . Since I found so much on line. kind of scary !
If anyone would like some more info in the south Africa side mainly decedents of my late grand father David Mitchell I can certainly provide the info. send me a message and we can contact with email. I started to work on the family tree on another site and will post those results shortly.
Yes my father and mother moved to USA in the 80's. and 3 children are still here.
I found a lot of info on grandfathers brothers BUT very little on him. BUT my father had visited scotland and got the birth information of his dad my great grandfather and then I could link it all up.

David you have to make one more post, then you will see three posts under your name, you can then send personal messages using Rootschat to each other.
