I'm trying to track down anyone who may have done any research on the family name Brophy in Killameestia.
I have a Thomas Brophy b 1800 who married Nancy Tobin b. 1810, emigrated to America approx 1855, with one known daughter Annie Brophy b. approx 1851.

Hi :)
Would that be Killasmeestia?

Yes likely as there are various different spellings used depending which document looked at

You didn't mention a denomination - I presume your Brophy family were RC ?
The townland of Killasmeestia is located in the civil parish of Skirk which is in the west of the county and bordering Co. Tipperary. The RC parish for the area is Borris-in-Ossory. Baptism and marriage records for this parish go back to 1840, and are available in the National Library (Kildare Street, Dublin), and also on LDS films - see : RC Parish of Borris-in-Ossory (http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/rcparishmaps/index.cfm?fuseaction=showidrecords&CityCounty=Laois&parish=Borris-in-Ossory&churchid=972) (Irish Times)

I've had a look at all my records for cemeteries around Borris-in-Ossory, and as recently tonight in Killameestia, but only found one Brophy record, and that was in Skeirke cemetery.
